God isn't a Genie. You have to go out and get
it yourself. And stop smoking before you get
yourself cancer. Maybe God knows what is
best for you. Maybe he is telling you NO, whatever
you ask for.

Forget about being a "good" Christian. You must develop a relationship with God. Look at King David as an example. I do not believe you are praying or you're praying in such a way that God will not hear. You ask amiss (James 4:3).

God is real. Just pursue Him in a humble and repentant way and you'll have no problem. If you don't care about your relationship with God, it's the root of your problem. You want to rule your life. Not with God. Remember, God sees the heart. If you're having problems even hearing from God, then you need a different attitude. I say this from experience. When I wanted to do what was best for ME, then I had major problems. It wasn't until I humbled myself that God became real rather than a ritual.

I don't know your intent in asking this question but I'm taking advantage of answering it and hoping it's a serious question.

Not sure your understanding of a really good christian is (sorry to be blunt), but going to church, being on c. skate team, etc may or may not include true faith. Sounds like satan is attacking you, giving you doubt, etc. Your desire to know God is great! Ask Jesus, the Way to the Father, to come into your heart, repent and be willing to forgive others and be willing to change yourself so that God can make you a new creation. When you have a personal relationship with Jesus, the Holy Spirit will indwell you. Your heart must seek and desire The Lord to be the Master of your life. Your desire will cause you to care and trust that God/Jesus is real. You may need to check your heart. Are you willing to give up your old sinful Adamic nature and change into Christ's nature, = be born again? The Lord will change you, but you need to let go and let God. Put doubt aside. Trust and doubt cannot reside together. Continue to pray and read your Bible. You WILL grow in the Lord. I will pray for you. Don't hesitate to walk forward in a christian church and ask to be prayed for. The Lord wants you to be in His Kingdom! May God be with you always!

The fact that you are reaching out to ask such a question is a good indication that you want to change. In your favor you have known the ways of God through His word and you, by your own admission you still pray and read your word and that is good.
Here is my pespective. Something happened to you that got you off track and it is likely that your cussing and smoking is an act of rebellion and hurt. So search your heart and determine what happened. Now, the other issue is that God is not obligated to answer your prayers that are seemingly filled with bitterness and hurt. He is obligated to answer prayers that are based on His word. Sothe first order of business is to get rid of that negative defeated spirit and began once again to speak life. Stop saying what God is not doing and began to appreciate what He is doing. Count up the small things that He is doing and you will see that He is working on your behalf. Stop reading your word and start living your word. Stop praying and start speaking what He has said and in your time of prayer explain to God how you really feel (He knows anyway). My discerning tells me that the issue with you is not whether or not He is real, but whether He is stlll interested in you and I can tell you that He is. As to the smoking thing, since we have free will, God will allow that, but when cancer results, I don't think I have to tel you that you will regret that you allow your temple to be defiled and more specific that you caused your own demise. The good news is that God really wants you to know Him. Take it day by day and start your day with positive affirmations of who He is and waht He is doing. I know that you will see God do something for you. Only believe!!!!! It won't hurt if you confess your issue to a strong believer who is not someone that will condemn you, but who will tell you what the Lord is saying. Jesus paid the price for you!!!

First of all, God is real, no matter how you feel. There are times of trouble in life- yes, but rest assured, God is there to help you push through. Sometimes, Christians experience a time in their live wherein God intentionally moves away from you. He seems a million miles away sometimes, but these are tests to see if you can still worship, trust, and know that He is there. Job experienced times in his life where God did not seem to work, yet, he remained faithful and he trusted God. Remember that God said "I will never leave you nor forsake you". This is a promise, and God remains faithful to His promises. Count on it. Trust Him, and remember that there are still reasons to thank Him even if He does not seem to be there:

>>God is real
>>He is in control
>>He will NEVER leave you even if everybody else did
>>He is omniscient
>>He is omnipresent
>>He is sovereign
>>He has a purpose and a plan for you- a plan that will work in ways you cannot see right now, but you will be able to in the future.

Second is that, God works. It just takes time. He wants you to be patient. When nothing ever changes, stay patient. That is one gift of the Holy Spirit that you need to work on and improve.

Remain faithful. God is real. Just believe. These times of trials, we do not know when it will end, but it will.

Hello, Skater:

The problem might lie with your religious instructors; many do not present the deep things of God in an intellignet manner to convince those in the shaddow of darkness.

Yet, God says I will be found if you seek me with all your heart.

So, Get back on your knees, then open His Book. Quit feasting on the peutrid flesh of t.v., and associate with Christians instead of skeptics.

And, there is a hidden Bible code sealed until our day that answer a lot of questions from skeptics. It even proves Jesus is the messiah to come.

Consider this : An archaeologist digs deep into the desert sand and finds a piece of an old clay pot. After his investigations, this archaeologist can tell us, from this little old piece of dusty clay, so much about the civilisation that existed thousands of years ago that produced it; he can tell us about the types of ovens, temperatues, and dyes that they worked with, the raw materials that they used, and thus assess the level of their artistic skill and technological ability, etc. All this from a small piece of clay lying in the desert.
Did this archaeologist ever see the civilisation that produced this pot ?

How does he know that it ever existed ?

He knows because he saw that the piece of clay was produced by someone who designed it, and shaped it, and had the intelligence to be able to heat it and produce the pot, and not only that, they also had the ability to colour it and make it look beautiful.

Design ==> Designer.

To the archaeologist the existence and intricacy of the piece of pottery is conclusive proof of the existence, intelligence and ability of the people who made it.

Look around you: at the beautiful sunset on a summer evening, at the moon and the stars on a cloudless night, at the water that you drink, at the trees and how they grow from tiny seeds.

Think about yourself: your eyes with which you see, your ears with which you hear, your tongues with which you taste and talk, your hands and your feet, your heart and your brain.

Consider how these things are so complex in themselves and yet work together in such perfect harmony.

From the movement of the galaxies to the complexities of the interaction of molecules, from the dynamics of eco-systems to the intricacies of DNA, all lead to the obvious fact of the existence of the great Wisdom, Knowledge and Power that allows our Universe to exist and function.

To any perceptive person the existence and intricacy of creation is conclusive proof of the Existence, Knowledge and Wisdom of the One who creates, organises and sustains it.

Most people naturally recognise the existence of the Creator, and we find reference to the Creator in all cultures and religions. Even the atheists, communists and (disbelieving) scientists cannot avoid this reality, but avoid the term 'creator', for phrases like 'Mother Nature' and 'the amazing way nature has designed...'

How strange in the face of this, that many today reject the belief in the existence of the Creator. Perhaps this is due more to fashion and the desire to justify a materialistic attitude to life rather than real observation and comprehension of reality.

Something stranger still, and perhaps another reason for the trend to deny the Creator, are those who claim that a man, or men, who walked on the earth, breathed air, who had bodies and souls subject to the Laws of the Universe, are the Creator, or manifestations of the Self-Subsistent One.

This is of course a complete contradiction in terms. Something cannot be the Creator and created at the same time, needing air, food and drink and being self-sufficient, being temporary and eternal!

If you are one of those who believe that a man such as Buddha, or Krishna, or Jesus is the Creator and Controller, then think again.

We were created from a drop of despised fluid, in which was a microscopic sperm, which in turn fertilised a microscopic egg and we grew in our mother's womb in stages predetermined, over which we had no control. We came from our mother's womb, urinating and defecating, needing constant attention and care. Without food we will die, without air we will die ... and then such a one is God?

Indeed any intelligent person would recognise exactly how dependant life, the universe and everything is on its Creator. Our dire need for His help makes itself plain in times of great distress.

Imagine yourself in an aeroplane and you know it is going to crash...

Who do you turn to for help then ?

Or on a ship in the sea, thrown helplessly up and down by towering waves ...

There will have been a situation at one time or the other in your life when you called upon your Creator alone, forgetting everyone and everything else, hoping, trusting, wishing that the Being you know in your heart and soul that has power and control over all things would help you. The only One you know can save you!

I dont mean to sound rude but are you sure you had a relationship at all with God? I have no doubt that you were a good Christian because Christian is just a title. Its all about a relationship with God. You can be religious and go to church and give all your money to good causes but it means nothing without a relationship with the Lord. You are being deceived by fallen angels telling you God is not real. Go and repent from you sins. Go get baptised and start a relationship once again or start one for the first time. Hurry God is waiting for you. Peace out.............

No, god is imaginary. That's why no one answers. The bible is a work of fiction written by superstitious bronze age people.

Now that you realize that, you have to make your own decisions about what kind of life you want to lead. Most atheists are very moral people simply because it's more rewarding to be a nice person.

"HE" even real? Think spiritual, not tangible.....

You might read "Conversation with God, Book One" and maybe it will help you remember what you've forgotten?

Just from what you wrote here, you ARE actually getting what you are THINKING... because your thought seems to be more of "God has left the building, God isn't listening to me"... Free Will allows you to have whatever you believe.

God is HOW you are able to BE you, Free Will allows you to choose what that experience will be.... you are not alone, life is a collaboration.

The body is WHAT you are IN, not WHO you are.

Blessings.

If you want to know if he is real just kneel down and ask him with faith. If you ask him in faith with a real intent to know he will let you know. You also have to be ready for the answer. You will know as a feeling of peace if he is real. Like it says in the bible ask and ye shall recieve knock and it shall be opened unto you.
