I'm just passing through on this life, getting my soul ready for the everlasting life (If I'm worthy to God)
God gave man knowledge to help his fellow brethren, "The will to live, even in this life, is stronger than the will to die"
Sin is the cause of all down fall that is heaped on us poor souls

If you are saved then when we die life will be better in heaven then on earth. If you're not saved then life will be worse in Hell. It is our nature to want to live. We don't want to suffer and be sick. No matter what the Dr's do or say it is up to God when we die. God uses Dr's. to help us not be so sick and to live a longer life. It is God who will allow us to live. When our loved ones are sick and suffering it is our selfish nature to want them to continue living. God does do everything for a reason. There is a reason why sick people get sick and there is a reason why some get better while others don't. There will always be things we don't understand and have questions about and will never get the answers until we get to heaven.

Nobody can explain how some of this works. I believe everything happens for a reason. Many people, who have lived a full life and have seen most of their family go on, want to just die and be done with it. Many people, like me, have family that need us yet. We believe that death brings something better, but we feel it will come in due time. In the mean time we are supposed to take care of out bodies and use medicine, breathe air, eat food, drink water, sleep, etc, just like everyone else.
People who do not believe in God think this is foolish, but then, God said they would.

When our bodies die, we go to heaven and are living in God's presence! We do go to doctors. I have no problem with the medical profession at all, I prefer homeopathic remedies but if I get sick enough I will make the appointment and see the doctor. A lot of people ask if you are a good Christian then why does God allow you to get sick, I think it is a learning experience. If the lesson is for me or a caregiver I don't know. Just one person's opinion :-)

God gave us doctors. There have been times I needed a doctor for healing and there have been times when Jesus healed me. Yes everything happens for a reason. This life that we have been given here on earth is a gift from God and should be treated as such.God will call me home when my time on earth is finished

Maybe you're getting sick for the doctors to be able to create the medicine to cure you.
Besides, the one who gets sick may not believe in God at the time of sickness. So think of it as God giving you a second chance. God choses when it's time to go. Obviously if you live then it's not your time.

As you said, the question has been asked before. The best thing ever is this life itself, and you should do your best to live it to its full, without thinking of any afterlife. The afterlife, is appreciated only if you lived a full physical life on earth otherwise, you will not grow wings. Getting sick is not God's doing, it's the enemy's known as Lucifer, so when you are sick , you have to seek a cure so that you can give the finger to the devil. HAPPY LIVING!!!

You bring up a question that the Apostle Paul struggled with in a similar way.
Philippians 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. 23 I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. 24 But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account. 25 Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith, 26 so that in me you may have ample cause to glory in Christ Jesus, because of my coming to you again.
Paul realized that it would be selfish to take the easy way out and to go to be with the Lord before he had performed all of the service that he was capable of.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Hm. What a complicated question. Wow. I am not Christian, but that is a VERY good question.
The reason *I* , being Pagan, want to get better is to LIVE ON!
To us, we go to OTHER lives, but we learn as many lessons as we can in this one.
The longer you live, the more lessons you learn!
But your questions sort of baffles me. Good luck with that one!
[The need to live is also a basic instinct, if you're talking science.]
:P
Good luck!
