Most Christians would probably say 'no one' but then why do Christians stands idly by while they let their government torture people just to get information out of them? Why aren't they making a stink over it if Christians are SO Moral? We know it's happened and there's nothing to say its not happening now. What what's up with that?

So many of you missed the point of the question. It's not about Jesus, It's about Christians. They are the supposed majority. They have political power. Bush is a Christian. Clearly you just want to sit on your collective rear ends on issues like this but should a woman want to abort a fetus or a homosexual want to marry then LOOK OUT!
I've seen no rallying over the torture issue at all. It seems to me that Christians themselves are just as immoral as their religion is.

According to the Christian Bible either you accept the aspect Jesus of the Christian God, or, they will have another aspect torture you for an eternity.

If that ain't a scare tactic I don't know what is.

Their even working on it through GWB and his little plane rides to Gitmo, and destinations overseas where torture is the theme. Innocent until proven guilty has gone out the window. Torture for the "truth"Christians want to be the "truth" is well documented historically for the last thousand years.

Bush and friends just updated the old witch hunts and their tortures. Innocence doesn't matter as long as you can prime the propaganda machine with some confessions under torture.

The USA is a nation with a majority that bows to a God and his self proclaimed, God appointed, warrior and purveyor of torture.

I love questions like this. It shows your ignorance on the subject of Jesus Christ of Nazareth and Christians. First of all most Christians like me believe that Jesus was God. This said he would not have to torture for information because he would already know what is in a mans heart. Secondly he didn't get into the political games that were going on while he was walking around. Even if you don't believe and you read the Bible you would know this. As far as torture He believed in it because he was torture for our sins. He asked no one else to do this but took it on himself to be tortured. It is called the passion of the Christ, and I am not talking about the movie. So what do you think of the Roman torture of an innocent man. Now for a different picture how many Christians are tortured and raped in Sudan. What about the Christian school girls who were beheaded in indonesia. What about the Christians in China tortured for owning a Bible. What about the Christians tortured in Pakistan for just being Christian. Where are your morals, did you lose them on spring break. Did some Christian offend you by making you feel guilty for your empty life. Well I am so sorry. As a Christian I have over two thousand years of heritage to draw on and I am very proud to walk the walk of those who have died and have been tortured so that others my live a free life. One Christian Monk stopped the Romans games by walking in between the Gladiators who stood to slaughter one another. Christian Monks kept greek and latin alive for us to learn when the world was burning with war. This is what Christians have done. Why don't you try learning some more and then come back with a better question.

Being an agnostic who ran a chapter of Amnesty International in undergrad, this question itself is frightening.

No religion condones torture. No moral person condones torture. Governments allow it as exceptions, and then exceptions become the rule, and then you have institutional torture.

There are plenty of Christians who participated in my chapter of Amnesty International, and plenty of agnostics, atheists, Buddhists, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, and Pagans too. This question does no good at all.

If you are against torture, fight it. Write to the Justice Department. Protest. Good religion, or lack thereof, does not condone pain in the world, and does not condone causing another person such pain.

Torture is an abhorrent thing, and as civilized as we think we are, it should have been stopped long before now. This goes for everyone of all beliefs and none.

We don't stand idly by. You'd be surprised what types of things we are doing. I grew up knowing Arab-Americans and I am most unhappy with this administration. What makes you think Christians are doing nothing? You don't even see peace banners except on churches and most peace organizations have some kind of religious affiliation. Ever heard of Pax Christi? Well, check it out. I'm appalled at the Dual Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. There is no peace; these are low-intensity civil wars that the government precipitated with naked aggression.

Oh my goodness,!! What would an atheist do? What would a Pagan do, what would a Jew do, what would a Muslim do? what would a Hindu do? All these people let their Governments do what they will, some plant bombs, some starve, some, smack themselves on the back and make themselves bleed. Christians, we pray. We pray that the atrocities that have befallen man, man of any belief would subside. All we want is for man to realize that he has a place with God, and that can only be found by accepting Jesus into our hearts and being born again through the blood of Christ, which was shed for all of our sins.

I think Jesus would torture some worthless terrorist who were going to and already had killed Innocent men women and children. I don't think that using force to retrieve life saving information is a lack of morals. Jesus would be stern and physical when he needed to be. There is a time to turn the other cheek and a time to duck then counter with a right cross!

no one you're right Jesus is God When he came to Earth he was in a form of a person but was perfect like his father God. Some Christians do stand by and let others get hurt but some stand up for what is right. If you want more information on Jesus and what he stood for go to www.biblegateway.com and look in the gospels (Matthew, Mark Luke and John) it will explain everything! Hope I helped!

Christians aren't a militia. You can disagree with torture and still not be able to control the actions of others. The only person any of us can be responsible for is our self. Peace begins one person at a time. Try to control the actions of other people and you have war.

In the US we have separation between church and state. Supposedly, our government is not run by Christians, but by the people, who are diverse. Whether that is happening right now is a question though. Peace.
