OK...I have a 1985 Mazda RX7 and just got a new Pioneer Car CD Player for it. Unfortunately, I am not able to locate the correct wiring harness for my car, they all begin year 1986. I need to know how I can make it work without it. Any help is appreciated.

If you want to hard wire it;

Radio 12v - blue/red @ radio harness
Radio Ground (chassis)
Radio Ignition - blue/white @ radio harness
Radio Illumination red/black @ radio harness
Factory Amp Turn-on white @ radio harness
Power Antenna blue/yellow @ radio harness
LF Speaker +/- lt. green/red - lt green/black @ radio harness
RF Speaker +/- lt. green - lt. green/yellow @ radio harness
LR Speaker +/- brown/white - brown @ radio harness
RR Speaker +/- blue/orange - blue @ radio harness

If equipped, the rear speaker amplifier is behind the radio.

While the harnesses you've seen may say '86 and up RX-7, Scosche lists the same harness for the '85. I certainly don't know of any other Mazda harnesses for that year.

My advice would be to go ahead and remove the factory radio, then drive the vehicle to a car audio retailer so they can look at the plugs and find you the right harness. I would only try hard-wiring the new radio as a last resort.
