My previous cat bit my hand on two separate occasions (both times were at the vets when she was scared) and each time the puncture marks bled and my hand swelled up like something out of a cartoon. As I'm a big scaredy cat myself who 's afraid of needles, I never went to the doctors for a tetanus shot. Instead I just kept cleaning the wounds with antiseptic until they healed about a week later. Other than mild throbbing pain in my hand, I never felt any numbness, so what you're experiencing doesn't sound normal.

It may be a reaction to the tetanus shot or to an infection from the bite, but either way, I think you should speak with your doctor. Your vet might also be interested to know, because it may indicate that your cat is unwell in some way.
