Money you got from your husband isn't taxable and will not be reported on your tax return. But you do have to get the info from your former employers and report that accurately.

No, you can't do that.

Since you are still married, you can still file a joint return or separate returns. An exception would be if you have a legal separation under a decree of separate maintenance in which case you would both file single.

However you file, you MUST list all income on those W-2s. Period. If you file a separate return, you'll list only your own income from the W-2s.

If you have a legal separation and are filing as Single and the money your husband paid is court-ordered alimony, you must claim both the alimony AND all of your W-2 income.

If you are filing separate returns, your husband CANNOT file your return for you! YOU must file it yourself! (He could prepare if for you, but YOU are responsible for filing it and all of the information on the return so it's best that you handle that yourself.)

If you don't have the W-2s, you must contact your employers and get copies. You don't have an option on this so look them up in the phone book and get those copies.
