Maybe his appeal lies in the fact that he exists and is actually alive now.

Can you give an example of a specific occassion where the pope is being worshiped? It might be helpful to have such evidence to support your argument. Further, can you give an example of claims being made by Catholics that the pope is somehow believed to be a divine being? If you have such evidence, it would help to support your claims. Have you seen precisely where the pope lives? You may have seen the exterior of the Vatican, which is a city state and the headquarters of Catholic Faith, but have seen where the pope actually lives, meaning his private room? How do you know whether or not he lives extravagantly or modestly? The will of Pope John Paul II is a matter of public record, he died with no money, no property, and minimal possessions. Might that be an indication of how popes, at least in the contemporary period have lived? And if the pope is treated like a celebrity, is that because he has sought to be treated that way, or is it because that is the way the world chooses to treat him?
Whether or not you accept the claims of the Catholic Faith or any other religion is up to you, but before you present an argument, or decide that you want to make a point, have the intellectual honesty to truly investigate the topic and not simply rely on emotionally driven generalizations and ad hominen attacks.

Constantin came up with the grand idea of kissing the popes feet.Yet catholics will tell you they don't worship the pope. They claim Peter to be the first pope but when Cornelius bowed to worship Peter he told Cornelius to stand up for he was a man like him.As far as I am concerned the only thing christ like about the pope is Anti-christ.

The Pope is not treated like a god.
He is treated as the last absolute monarch on the earth, answerable only to God, and possessing God-given power and authority that is unparalleled in human history.
The Pope owns nothing. He is merely the chief steward of the Church.
The art, architecture, and artifacts present at the Vatican rightly reflect the glory of God, right here on the earth, and that is quite suitable for a "branch office" of heaven.
Read your old testament and see how particular God is about his temple, his priests, and his sacred vessels.
This hasn't changed, and his true church understands precisely why, even if you don't.

We don't worship him. He's seen as a very high, very important man, as close to God as any of us can get. The Pope has spent almost all of his life serving God, moving from being a poor priest to being the Cardinal of Rome (bet you didn't know that the pope was a cardinal). Of all of us, he deserves our respect.
The pope is not a hypocrite. He's earned his position. That's more then what i can say for most people. How many of us have worked our way up from nothing to something? All priests start off poor. He made it as far has he has by the grace of God. Not every priest can move up to being a bishop or archbishop or Monsignor. Some stay a priest, working off the generosity of the dioceses for the rest of their lives. How can you begrudge someone a chance to have a little bit of luxury in the ending years of their life. By the time any pope is pope, they are old and at the twilight years of their life.

The Pope is NOT worshipped.
The Pope is at present employed solely to denote the Bishop of Rome, who, in virtue of his position as successor of St. Peter, is the chief pastor of the whole Church, the Vicar of Christ upon earth.

Well, why do you worship something that doesn't even exist? At least they can see the Pope. Yeah, I know, they believe in God, too and they don't actually worship the Pope... Just.. Saying..

Catholics do not worship the Pope. One might also ask the question... How much money does Joel Osteen or Billy Graham give to charity. Not the charities that they own and administrate, but legitimate charities. And their audiences seem to "worship" them.

that is true but didn't the pharasees do the same thing when Jesus was on the earth? They were the most corrupt people.
I always think of this scripture, they are so self righteous.
Luke 18:9
9Â But he spoke this illustration also to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and who considered the rest as nothing: 10Â “Two men went up into the temple to pray, the one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11Â The Pharisee stood and began to pray these things to himself, ‘O God, I thank you I am not as the rest of men, extortioners, unrighteous, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. 12Â I fast twice a week, I give the tenth of all things I acquire.’ 13Â But the tax collector standing at a distance was not willing even to raise his eyes heavenward, but kept beating his breast, saying, ‘O God, be gracious to me a sinner.’ 14Â I tell YOU, This man went down to his home proved more righteous than that man; because everyone that exalts himself will be humiliated, but he that humbles himself will be exalted.”
15Â Now people began to bring him also their infants for him to touch these; but on seeing it the disciples began to reprimand them. 16Â However, Jesus called the [infants] to him, saying: “Let the young children come to me, and do not try to stop them. For the kingdom of God belongs to suchlike ones. 17Â Truly I say to YOU, Whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a young child will by no means get into it.”
