I = got my top braces on yesterday and right now my teeth are very sensitive. I am unable to chew anything, even soft foods. Im kinda scared to brush hard on my top teeth because it hurts when I press down. Am I also worried about moving the braces or loosening a wire if I brush too hard? Should I just brush as I normally would or should I wait a few more days until my teeth aren't as sensitive?

poor you! I had braces a few years ago. I couldn't eat anything as soon as I got home and I love to eat. Even drinking warm water killed my teeth. It's absolutely ok to brush your teeth as normal. They stick the stuff on tightly so it won't fall off. I skipped that night of brushing cos it was in so much pain. You should brush your teeth. But you know...it doesn't hurt if you skip every now and then haha. Even if it falls off (which it shouldn't) you can always go back there and they can do that part again. No big deal. I had braces for 3 effing years cos one tooth didn't grow down. Waste of time :(

You could probably stand to skip a brushing once, but just once. And I would rinse with some listerine. Don't worry about the wire coming loose, it won't. It's possible for a bracket to come loose...that's normal. I have a bracket pop off every once in a while. But sometimes I don't even know it until I go to the orthodontist because the wire is still holding the bracket there...the bracket just isn't glued to the tooth anymore.

hmm..that seems familiar. I remember when I had braces. My dentist told me to use a 'baby brush'; one with soft bristles. I don't think not brushing is a good idea. About the wires coming loose, I wouldn't worry too much. Just don't brush it toooooo hard! Keep your teeth clean at any cost.

Brush lightly but do brush. Also consider eating things like soup and ice cream etc until your teeth feel better. Take a prescription dose of ibuprofen or naproxen to help with the pain.

BY BRUSHING YOU WILL NOT HARM THE WIRE NOR THE WIRE THEY'RE ATTACHED TO. MAKE SURE YOU USE A SOFT ORTHODONTIC TOOTHBRUSH AND CHANCE THE BRUSH EVERY 3-4 MONTHS.
BRUSH GENTLY AND DON'T SCRUB THE TEETH. THIS COULD HURT YOUR GUMS.
