Hello! Thanks for taking time to read this question! Your input is greatly appreciated! I am 31 weeks pregnant with my second child and i have become facinated by the concept of baby wearing. I have looked at several sling and pouch style baby carriers but most of them seem to be made for average size parents. If anyone has a good reccomendation for a baby carrier made for plus size parents or maybe a pattern to make one i would appreciate it! Thanks again!

This one is called the Active Spirit baby sling and it fits EVERYONE, go to the website and take a look at the photos section. There is a picture of every shape and size of parent! It's wonderful, and you personalize the fabrics you want! Take a look and read about them! Congratulations!!!

Congratiulations on your baby! Yeah!

I have heard that the Baby Bjorn work well...a good place to start would be motherhood maternity, they have all sorts of resources.

I've added a link to a website that gives you a pattern for differnt slings. Good luck!

they make one like a back pack but for a baby. the straps go over you shoulders and the baby sits in the little pouch. it works well for plus size people

I never had a problem with the Baby Bjorn (SP) and I was heavy when my son was born (175). Also, when they are bigger (I think over 20 pounds) the hip carriers are good too.

Just wait until you get further in your pregnancy. Believe me, I got pretty heavy at the end of the first pregnancy, (200) and by the time I got that baby out, I didn't want to wear him anymore! I was glad to get the heavy strain off of my back.

Perhaps you could find a seamtress that does custom sewing in your area. Maybe he/she could design one for you. Those slings couldn't be that hard to make.

have a look at any baby store - there are these amterial wrap things (like what is commonly used in African contries, and they absoultley suit all sizes.

The Maya wrap comes in small, medium, large and x-large. I use to have one, never used it, but gave it to my sister and she loves it! Uses it all the time.

look on ebay. I think that they have some that you can tell them what color and size you want.
