find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats, take 300-400 calories off that number and that's how much you need to lose weight.
5-8servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water a day
5-6 small meals instead of 3 big ones (breakfast is the most important - make sure to get complex carbs like whole wheat bread, oatmeal, fruit etc)
4-6 times a week cardio for 30-50min, light weight training, many reps
no junk food, no sodas, no alcohol, no white flour (cakes, cookies, white bread, pasta etc.), nothing high in sugar (ice cream)

Well, first of all it's great that you want to lose weight and feel better. Don't have too high of expectations. Start out slow. First you could walk for 30-60 minutes everyday on the treadmill. Do some light weights..lunges, biceps, situps, squats. Then try eating 2 healthy meals out of the 3 in a day. Stick to whole wheat. Avoid white bread, sugar. Eat lots of fruits and veggies. Lots of water. After you feel like you can walk that much everyday...try doing half jogging and half walking. Then you can move up to jogging for 30 minutes. Try walking a little in the morning and a little at night...If you feel like eating go for a walk instead. If you feel hungry try drinking a big glass of water ... usually hunger is just really that you are thirsty. Don't give up. Don't beat yourself up. If you eat something that is really unhealthy...don't wait til tomorrow to eat healthy again. Just start over right away. Just learn to love yourself through this process...don't judge yourself right now. It will take time...and you will be able to do it. Find a friend that is in a similar situation and you two can work together. Only be around people that are supportive and that can encourage you. I wish ya the best. If you would like someone to support you my email is kalia07dee@yahoo.com. I would be willing to help you. Good luck.

If you're 15 years old you might take up a group activity to help you with your consistency. Are there sports that you like? Would you like to study the martial arts? Do you know how to roller blade, or play soccer? Can you swim? Try to take up an activity where they have a built in schedule and other people who will expect you to be there. And then be there.

If you prefer going to the gym, make your treadmill workouts fun. Bring music (walkman, iPod) that you like, bring magazines or books that you're interested in. If you can't actually read while you're walking, then bring magazines that have great pictures. Work out with a friend. Go when there's a good tv show to watch. Find ways to keep yourself interested. Do it for yourself.

As for the food, learn how to cook some healthy meals for yourself. Preparing food is a way to make eating more satisfying without adding calories. Learn about healthy recipes using fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. You'll be developing skills that will help you throughout your entire life.

Dinner: whatever ur parents fixed but cut it down at least a half the plate with fruit or veggies

no snacks if ur consistant u wont have a taste for sweets. if u have to have one eat a popcicle, instead of chips try veggie and dip or if u need something sweet some fruit.

Personally, I hate going to the gym and running on the treadmill...I find it really boring. Instead I like biking, so I go on a bike ride whenever I can. I also play soccer, so maybe you could join a sports team.
For my own motivation, I had these really cute jeans I bought when I first started my diet, but they were too small. Now I can wear them. =)
As for food, dont cut down your calories too low...I tried eating only 600 cals a day for a week or so, but then I would screw up and eat a ton during the weekends. Instead I now try to eat 1000-1200 every day, no exceptions, and I'm losing weight a lot faster.
Good luck!

the whole problem is attitude. specifically impatience. This is normal, people who want t loose weight want it gone NOW and get frustrated andloose the faith when they don't see any gain for their efforts at the gym or their denying themselves the foods they love. OK so I am saying that in this regard, you are absolutely NORMAL. How do you deal with it? first: you have to look at your lifestyle and acknowledge that your didn't gain your extra pounds in a single sitting, and it isn't going to come off any easier. Second: you need to do commit yourself whole heartedly to the goal you have in mind, it probably will take you some time, but I KNOW you can do it! THIRD: seek profesional help (doctor or weight loss clinic) to develope a sensible and realistic PLAN to loose the weight and rach your goal. Fourth: DO NOT reward yourself with an ice cream sunday when you see you made a little progress towards your goal, hold your course, be brutal with yourself and you will win!!
Good Luck to you!!!

Give yourself some sort of motivation to excercize.
Is there a cute guy you want to impress? Is there something you're DYING to fit into, but you can't?
Also, reward yourself along the way. After you lose your first 10 lbs, take yourself on a mini-shopping spree. Buy one new outfit that fits your new body. Do this until you reach your goal, and then go on a full-out shopping spree. Donate your old clothes to charity.
Hopefully if you're motivated to work-out, you will...
Another thing... Try eating healthier. Opt for a salad instead of a burger. Don't eat too much at each meal. Eat HEALTHY snacks between meals...
Oh, and if you're a guy... Then totally ignore the first part. Instead, buy something else, like a cd you've wanted...
Good luck!

You just have to make it a part of your daily routine. Also, going with a buddy makes it easier because someone else besides yourself is depending on you to go, so you can't say, "Oh.. I'll just go tomorrow," as easily. When you are working out, try to enjoy it, and try to mix up your workouts each day. Don't do the same thing each day. Think about the results. Break your workouts into smaller goals. Like, for these two weeks you'll lose however many pounds, or you'll burn X number of calories during each workout. Good luck!

i basically had the same predicament as yours when five years ago i started to resolve that i'm gonna loose weight no matter what. at my heaviest i registered 197 lbs on the weighing scale, standing only at 5'6". i've been fat all my life, and with it i suffered from a low self-image that was not helping me at all in various aspects of my life and i guess it was this that made me resolve i'm gonna make the change. its difficult at the start but if you have a goal and you desperately want to reach that goal yo'ull do everything not to stray an inch to achieving what you have set out to do. now i am at a controlled weight of 145 lbs. its still a struggle but hey, i like what i'm seeing now.

what did i do? i reduced my rice intake to just half a cup of rice per meal. i avoided all the softdrinks and did not eat snacks. i just stuck to breakfast lunch and dinner, and drank lots of water. its a bit challenging at first as i sometimes found myself being dizzy but i kept on. the result? i was able to drop 40 lbs in six months. i so like what i saw in the mirror that i enrolled in a gym to firm up. at first i really wasnt seeing results especially in the abdominals area but i just kept on. later on i discovered alternative workouts that seemed to fit me more. if you like gentle, equally effective form of excercising try yoga. yoga combined with moderate weight lifting and cardio vascular exercises on the treadmill made a lot of difference. once in a while i'm still tempted to pig-out with meals but after such bouts i go back with a firmer resolve to be more disciplined with the food choices that i make. goodluck!
