To all those that answered: I am the boyfriend. I do love her and her daughter. I want to marry her. I do have children of my own and have studied phsycology. I do believe that she has a right to parent her daughter however she sees fit. But i also am listening to how her daughter feels. I care deeply about both of them. I only want them to have a good loving relationship with each other. When i see things that i feel are hurting that relationship i try to tell her but she seems to get angry about that. Maybe it's my approach. I'm sorry if I've offended her or any of you. I'm just trying to do my best.

It depends. If you really feel like you're doing things right, then stand by your means. The fact that you're concerned enough to post on Yahoo! Answers indicates that you believe that you're at least doing SOMEthing right. A lot of times when people criticize, they're just airing out their own resentments, and if this continues to the point where it makes you uncomfortable or resentful, then you've really got to talk it over with him to see if he'll change or find a new guy.

Just think, if he is thinking he can correct your parenting style now... imagine if you would get married! He would bug the crap out of you! Lose the dude.. unless you are parenting really wrong and like abusing your kid.. then listen to him! NO just kidding.. but he shouldnt but into your business with your daughter, he has no right when he is in no relation to you or your daughter. Tell him to back off

If he is your Boyfriend I wonder how he will be when he is your Husband. Can you, you see the Red Flag that is waving your way, if I were you, I would have told him that he has no right to be telling you how to raise your Daughter. Please reconsider and get rid of him, and next time find another guy that sees things your way.

Your daughter, your business, tell him to take a hike. Mind you, if you're using Y/A as as a guide, your parenting skills are probably questionable at best.

He's a control freak - unless there is something wrong with the way your parenting. Does anyone else comment - like CPS, the school, grandparents, juvenile authorities??

She is your daughter , he has no ties to her . If he thinks he can do better , let him marry you and you can work on raising her together , providing he would be a good father to her .
He's telling you to how to raise her , but what kind of environment is he promoting , he's not even married to you .

I find things wrong with the way my sister-in-law parent her son. She spoils him too much.

To your question, if he's views don't seem right to your friends than you don't need him

none of us are born parents, we all learn along the way... and it seems he is the only one born a parent (NOT!).

is he the kinda guy who walks around pointing out what you do wrong, not just with your child? no matter what you do, you didnt do it right, took too long, etc?

he's inpatient too, isnt he? he knows whats best?

my advice: giiiirl, get to step'n.... having (or living with) someone who is critical, is a red flag he's controling and self righteous... which leads to a nightmare of things.

honestly now, do you think it will stop or get worse?

there ARE nice guys out there... you just gotta be willing to leave these types behind.

you can do better then that, and your daughter deserves a better example of a man.

First off, he is not your child's father and has no right to tell you how to raise your kid. In fact he has no right to displine her either. I would tell him that your raising this child and if he wants to be part of your lives he needs to not put down how you do things.
