The day of worship, the sabbath, was changed to sunday, in the year 321, by the Emporer Constantine.
Anyone saying a different year, needs to throw away their Encyclopedia Brittanica.

hi, Sunday is celebrated because the Sabbath because the early church fathers of the Roman Catholic Church replaced the day of social gathering of the Sabbath to Sunday - The Day of the solar. I would say resurrection as His death would be on "Good Friday."

Which day of the Christian Sabbath has always had controversy. But in Colossians 2:16-17: Paul writes: "...do no let anyone judge you...with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ" (NIV). Most people interpret the reference to "Sabbath" in this passage as authorizing Christians to celebrate (or not celebrate) the weekly Sabbath in any way that they wish.

Technically: No. The "sabbath", by definition, will always be Saturday. But the observance of the Resurrection for Christians (The Lord's Day) from the early first century was Sunday. This became the norm - and is the customary day of Worship for virtually all of the Christian Church, with the exception of a few sects, such as the "Seventh Day Adventists"

This became official with the First Ecumenical Council in 325 A.D.

Yes. The early Christians changed the Sabbath (Saturday) to Sunday after the resurrection of the Lord. They called it the Lord's Day.

Some religious organizations (Seventh-Day Adventists, Seventh-Day Baptists, and certain others) claim that Christians must not worship on Sunday but on Saturday, the Jewish Sabbath. They claim that, at some unnamed time after the apostolic age, the Church "changed" the day of worship from Saturday to Sunday.

However, passages of Scripture such as Acts 20:7, 1 Corinthians 16:2, Colossians 2:16-17, and Revelation 1:10 indicate that, even during New Testament times, the Sabbath is no longer binding and that Christians are to worship on the Lord’s day, Sunday, instead.

The Sabbatists who nowadays want to observe the Jewish holiday, forget that Jesus and the apostles had authority to interpret and to reform the laws of Moses.

The early Church Fathers compared the observance of the Sabbath to the observance of the rite of circumcision, and from that they demonstrated that if the apostles abolished circumcision (Gal. 5:1-6), so also the observance of the Sabbath must have been abolished.

The following quotations show that the first Christians understood this principle and gathered for worship on Sunday.

The Didache
"But every Lord’s day . . . gather yourselves together and break bread, and give thanksgiving after having confessed your transgressions, that your sacrifice may be pure. But let no one that is at variance with his fellow come together with you, until they be reconciled, that your sacrifice may not be profaned" (Didache 14 [A.D. 70]).

The Letter of Barnabas
"We keep the eighth day [Sunday] with joyfulness, the day also on which Jesus rose again from the dead" (Letter of Barnabas 15:6–8 [A.D. 74]).

Note the dates of these early Christian letters. They were made well before the reign of Emperor Constantine who came to power in the 3rd century. I mention this because Sabbatists say it was Constantine who changed the Sabbath day.

Peace and every blessing!

No. The Sabbath remains on the Saturday still as far as the Jews are concerned. Christians simply observed Sunday as the Lord's Day.

I think it was changed because SUNday was the day that the pagans worshiped the sun. The Church made Sunday their holy day in order to attract new pagan converts. You might be surprised to find out how many compromises the Church made to convert the pagans.

BTW, I do not think it really matters what day you recognize the Sabbath on. Jesus said that the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.

It was changed during the Catholic Church reign
It was done to get more "Money" into the church by allowing the Sun worshipers in and other pagan believers in(all in all it was done for the money aspect)
Although they may use some other excuse for it

Many may say that it does not matter, when in fact it does. If it did not matter all that much, then why would a certain day be set aside only to be changed by man.

It does not matter when to worship and you should worship everyday, but the day of rest is important to God, but not to the extent that some of the Jews do. God did say that if your animal strays off, for you to go and retrieve it. But I have read cases with the Jews on this in the past where people where put to death over lifting a pen on the Sabbath Day.

Some Early Christians and then later the Catholics (Constaintinians) decided to make SUNDAY or RESSURECTION DAY the WEEKLY HOLY DAY.

Jesus and his discipled held FRIDAY NIGHT to SATURDAY NIGHT as the Sabbath.
