This pope was a German nazi soldier who became a priest and was elevated by chance, then all these cardinals (not related to the St. Louis Cardinals) elected him as a pope to continue the tradition, but that's about it, no power, not even the Stars Wars force protects him, I believe he made a comment about islam and they have him on target, so yes he needs the batmobile, I mean the popemobile for his own safe..☺

Nothing funny about it.

Faith is important, but foolishness is just foolish. It has been clearly established that the Pope is no more immune to acts of terror than you or I -- indeed, he is a more likely target than most reading this simply because of his high public profile. I don't have an issue with the bullet-proof glass; I salute his courage in continuing to travel in public.

Do you think God puts a force field around people? If you do something dumb like go out to crowds of hundreds of thousands, some of them nuts, you deserve what you get in this day and age.
Do you hide behind a seat belt? He is just being smart.

I agree that it is just sad. Especially since people like you seem to think God should perform magic tricks for your benefit. That's not His job. Besides, God provided the scientist who invented the bullet proof glass!

Perhaps if you had been shot by a crazed Turk, you'd be hiding behind bullet proof glass as well (of course, that was the last pope- but the current pope is now a target).

The "Popemobile" was conceived after Pope John Paul II was shot while travelling. He later forgave the man who shot him and visited with him. I don't think that it was his idea to be put inside the bubble, I think that others wanted him to. And honestly, if you'd been shot driving around waving at people, you'd be a little "gun shy" too, don't you think? hehehe

Who would want to shoot this Pope? He isnt interesting enough for anyone to care anymore. He seems to be very low key . Maybe that is a good thing, he can do more behind the scenes to help bring peace to the world..better?

I don't think its a joke, its just sad.

The Pope is not God himself, just a man. He's prone to attacks by lunatics just like you and me.
