Do you want to be the leader of the group to start the pantry or would it bother you to be just a member of this group? The Lord moves in mysteriuos ways sometimes, and maybe is trying to tell you something.

a man was in a flood and climbed on top of his house to escape the water, soon a man in a canoe came by and offered to take him to safety, the man said, no that is OK the lord will save me, a little latter a man in a boat came by and offered to take him to safety, to which to man replied, no the lord will save me, latter a helicopter came by and offered to take him to safety, to which the man replied no thank you the lord will protect me.
the water rose and the man drowned, when he got to heaven, he asked the lord why he did not save him.
the lord replied, i sent you a canoe, I sent you a boat and i sent you a helicopter.
when the lord sends us help, even if it is not what we want or expect, it is best to accept it.
he might have other thing He want the church to do, and you are His leader, the people who take an interest, means the more people you can feed,
have you thought about a clothes closet, to help clothe the needy?
or a visitation team to visit the sick, and pray for them.
or an intercessory team, a phone chain, for those that need prayer?
or some to welcome new members to the community.
how about a door greeter program.
there is a lot of work to be done in the church, but someone has to start it.
which ever way you go may God bless you for you willingness to help.

First of all, people want to jump on the bandwagon because they see that God is at work in your ministry. Second of all, if you are a sincere follower of Christ you should recognize that He makes us all different members of his body with different gifts and abilities and calls us to work together in unity. Thirdly, the Lord tests us to make us more like Jesus, as it is written:
James 1:2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
So what you need to do is to be a humble servant who realizes that YOU don't have any ministry of your own, that it is all God's ministry and if some people whom He has not called have jumped on the bandwagon eventually they will fall off as God moves them to where He actually wants them to serve. In the mean time you can work on being patient and loving and on searching yourself to see if perhaps there isn't some hidden piece of pride where you want it to be just "you and God" and are thereby not walking in love with your fellow Christian brothers and sisters.

If your intent is to help the needy, then what a wonderful thing that others are getting excited about helping others too. If you are are filled with the Holy Spirit as you say, then set your ego aside and let Him work through you. Otherwise, it is not about the needy anymore, and it is all about you.

So you want to do it for your own glory, not for the people in need? Nice christian attitude.

Start giving them orders.
Like they're your helper or something.
Either they'll take the orders.
Or they'll won't like it, & but out, after all you were first.
