The other guys are right, but let me offer an idea that might help you out. Velleman offers a pretty good digital multimeter for about $50-$60. Set up the circuit, and test it out to see what answers you get. Bread boarding a circuit is a great way to learn, and to confirm your answers. Even if all you have to work with is 9 to 12 volts, the answers there will directly correspond to the higher values of the question.

The voltage dropped is ALWAYS equal to the voltage applied in a closed circuit. Since the total drop is 240V, the voltage applied (that of the battery) is also 240 Volts.

It must be 240V since each resistor in the series has the same voltage drop and that makes 4 times 60 which = 240V
