I think reading them a story before bed, and/or getting them a nightlighte. Possibly staying in their bedroom with them for a little bit, if you have time. Leave the door open, and tell them you will check on them. See what works for your child. Good Luck!

With a good routine and some patience it can be made easy!! In our home we start baths at 7:30..2 bathrooms and they can both be used at the same time or we would start earlier!! Everyone is done by 8:15 then we all sit in my younsest sons room and I read to them for 15 or 20 min. Tuck everyone in and off they go to dream land. WE started this about 6 months ago cause bedtime was a nightmare at our house and the first month or so was not easy but now they know thats just how it is!

Kinds need consistency. And after a while - they expect certain things to happen at a certain time. If your child's bed time is 8:00 p.m. for example, start your bed time process at 7:30 or whatever time you deem appropriate. Make sure this is the same EVERY night, even weekends. Especially when kids are very young, if you stray from your routine on weekends, it can throw them off. Get them used to the routine. It may be tough at first but hang in there. :) Good Luck

I don't know if this is the best way for everyone. I give mine a bath. Then about about 15 minutes before bed I start turning down the lights in the house. Then I tell him he has 5 minutes before bed. Then we give kisses to dad and baby sister. I take him to bed and read him 1-3 story books. I tuck him in give him kisses and a drink of water. I leave his night light on. It works pretty good. I mean we still have some nights where he complains but on a normal basis it is a pretty good routine. Good Luck!

Kids thrive on routine. If you set up a bedtime routine like: have a bath, get pjs on and brush teeth, read a book, now let's get in bed and sing a lullaby. Keep the noises down and do the same thing every night. Then they just fall off to sleep. If they are babies, things like rocking them or holding them close and walking soothes them and helps them go to sleep.

Good luck.

That is THE question parents have been asking each other for century's!
It all depends on your kid. I have one that a warm bath with a full tummy worked like a charm, but the other one would get amped up with a warm bath! Watch the sugar intake and get them plenty of excercise, and before you know it they will be a teenager and you will be asking the question "How can I get my teenager to wake up in the morning!"

For us, I make sure the evening slows down about an hour before bedtime, and we have a routine so she knows what to expect each night. We do a story right before bed also (a bedtime story, no adventures). :)

On nights she can't sleep, I make her a glass of warm milk. I have no idea why this works, but it does, every time.

Well I don't have any kids of my own to experiment on, but some parents I know strap their kids into a car seat and drive them around the block a couple of times.... they swear by it, ten or fifteen minutes of car time and they're out like a light.

A regular routine...bath,brush teeth ,maybe a story....a night light if they need it a nice prayer ..and I always turned on some soft lullaby music.,,you can buy it at book stores..drowns out the interesting/curious noises in the house and relaxes them to sleep...the routine becomes a comfort to them...just make a peaceful calm environment..

If you have the time for it, I find that the easiest way to get my brothers (one almost three, the other almost six) to go to sleep is to sing them a lullaby, or their favourite song. They love to just lay down and listen, and after maybe half an hour they're sleeping soundly.
