I had a bicentennial train set when I was a kid (in 1976) It was a larger scale not a ho, it had three rail tracks, it was red, white and blue with stars etc. I have no idea whatever happened to. I hope it wasn't worth anything?

I don't think you missed out on an early retirement, but usually the "three track" type of equipment is Lionel "O" scale. It's probably worth more than the price paid in 1976, but don't loose any sleep over it.
