If only it were that easy. I've had MS for almost 8 years now and the only thing Benadryl helps with is sleep and bee stings. Yep no bee sting therapy for me!
Yes it is an auto-immune disorder and yes it is treated by medications that are immune suppressants. However these medications such as Betaseron and Avonex, are not like allergy medications.
Antihistamines like Benadryl are made to suppress the effect of histamine an endogenous chemical mediator released during allergic reactions.
Immunosuppressants, like the interferons in Betaseron, Avonex, or Rebif, are drugs used to inhibit or suppress the activity of the immune system.
While both allergic response and immune response seem like they should both be the same thing, in this case they are not. Allergies are your body responding to an invader like dust and MS is more like your body fighting itself not an inhaled contaminent.
There are many alternative approaches to dealing with MS but so far most patients find relief with the tradtional medical practices. Diet and exercise never hurt anyone but having your fillings removed is costly and has been found to be completely ineffective. To get more information on alternative practices and what has been actually, scientifically proven check out sites like Quackwatch.
For more information on MS itself and the research being done you can look at sites such as the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. There are also many other online communities where you can ask questions of those with MS, like myself.

no-high doses of benadryl will just make u sleep!m.s is caused by the de-mylenation of nerves, and to date, there are treatments but no cure.benadryl is an anti-histamine ,in use in allergies, but it cannot regenerate the myelin sheath which covers the nerves.the loss of this sheath happens when an auto-immune response causes the body to attack its own cells,in this case, the myelin sheath, for reasons which are as yet unclear.as yet, medicine is not advanced to the point that we can re-grow these mylin sheaths, but some meds will delay the process, and keep the patient going and comfortable longer-montel williams and terri garr are 2 who have had the illness a long while.hopefully,a cure will happen.unfortunately,it isnt benadryl.

Benadryl is for allergies. Multiple Sclerosis is a debilitating disease of the nerves.

When I treat MS, I implement the following:
1) remove mercury fillings
2) heavy metal detox
3) detox diet
4) therapy
5) allergy elimination - there are many allergic elements to MS including wheat, dairy, nuts and metals.
Benydrel won't really target the issue in my experience..

I'm pretty certain the answer is no. MS can't be cured by an anti-allergy drug. Best to see a doctor.
