Post race interview Gordon claimed he would never wreck anybody to win a race. Rusty Wallace for one may disagree. Gordon has punted his share of cars over the years and whines when the tables are turned. Today he complained that Johnson blocked him. The only thing that saved the 48 today was the "teammate" thing.

Gordon's exact quote: (From NASCAR.com video of the FOX postrace interview) "I'm not going to wreck a GUY to win a race"

To all Jeff Gordon Apologists: Please go to NASCAR.com and watch the video. Gordon said "I'm not going to wreck a GUY to win a race" He did NOT say team mate. Unless you're a mind reader, don't assume what he meant. He said what he said and that's why I almost fell out of my chair in disbelief.

Jeff said he "wouldn't wreck a TEAMMATE". And he wasn't complaining about it, just remarking. Who do you think Jimmie learned from? Admit it: either you weren't paying attention, or you just heard what you wanted to hear.

Jeff Gordon said he wouldn't wreck a teammate and a guy to win a race. One was said during a post race interview and another during a victory lane interview.. That's true he wouldn't and then their was the whole Brian Vickers scenario of him wrecking Jr and Johnson at Talladega for the win. Jeff would of had to basically wreck Johnson to win that race but he was doing everything possible to win that race and heck he was disappointed I doubt that any of us and him would have crawled out of that car and been happy about the fact that he lost. Jeff Gordon also said that he wouldn't wreck a guy to win a race. I mean I get that it happens and Matt Kenseth wrecked him at Bristol, and Kenseth was stupid enough to think that Gordon wouldn't be mad. Was he high at the time he thought that because anyone in their right mind would be a little mad. Then Gordon wrecks him on accident at Chicago to get his 1st win their. Two totally different scenarios and two different outcomes. Had any other guy except Gordon been behind Johnson, they would have wrecked him. Gordon also said that he would have done the SAME THING that Jimmie did in order to win the race and block the other guy as hard as he did. Had it been reversed the outcome would have been the same as Jeff would have won.. Jeff deserved to win that race and Jimmie should of let him have it as a teammate, friend, and owner..

Yeah, but not when it's precious Jimmie, teammate or not. Kyle Busch would have been punted..... For all the people Johnson has wrecked over the 4 plus years he's been in the series, Jeffy should've taken what (for twice now this year) should have been his and I am not a Jeffy fan. But, Gordon's corporate sellout soul wins again in front of the cameras, his body language climbing out of his car said a lot more.

No, Jeff said he would never wreck a TEAM MATE ! BIG difference. Jimmie should count his lucky stars that Jeff was being so nice. A win is a win, Jeff needs one due to the new Chase rules about getting points for actually WINNING races. I say a win is a win, even if you have to push some people out of your way to do it. Every driver has done one thing or another such as this...That's just RACING !!!

Gordon said he wouldn't wreck a team mate to win. All the focus on Hendricks teams right now is due to where they sit in points. Gosh you would think that no other drivers have wrecked the car out front to win.

I was a Rusty Wallace fan before he retired. I guess he doesn't remember the four times he did it at Bristol on the last lap. Johnson didn't get spun out because Jeff Gordon owns that car.

I wish GOrdon had wrecked Jimmie to win, and then been caught up in his own mess and taken out so Denny can win! Hendrick makes me sick! They give all the good cars to Johnson, Gordon and Kyle Busch! And my poor Casey is given what is left over!

Johnsons his teamate, if Jeff Gordon was going to win the race, he would have had to bump Johnson out of the way to win the race, and I don't mean a tap, Gordon would have had to bump Johnson out of the way.

Its Gordon's hypocracy. If hes the one doing the wrecking/making a car loose, and if he didnt whine if the tables are turned, I would be fine with it.

Dale Earnhardt wrecked a car or two on his way to victory, but if the tables were turned, he never whined about it, he would get you back, sooner or later.

he ment he would not seek out to wreck someone, and I would say everyone but Robby Gordon would not. They bump to move someone, and lets not forget he is majority owner of the 48 car.
