I wanted to do my own prints at home, and I wanted to know which printer I should get. I was leaning towards the Canon's printers but I also like Epson's printers. Which one is better in picture quality wise?

I have both. The Canon is a fine performer, and the print heads do not need cleaning as often. My Epson's print heads have to be cleaned almost every time I use it, perhaps because I don't print every day.

Both have good, archival output. The Canon is a bit quicker. I think you might be satisfied with either brand.

Both Canon and Epson make some excellent printers. HP has come a long way too. Depending on how serious you want to take it, I would rate Epson just slightly higher.

Printing at home is typically a little more expensive than taking it to a photo lab. But I have an Epson 2200 when I want to make larger B/W prints at exacting quality and the output is excellent.

I would say picture quality wise go with Espson. Much better printer, lasts longer, though Cannon ink is cheaper, and will probably save you money there. Almost the same quality.
