He got into boxing after his bike was stolen, but, it wasn't Dundee at the gym, it was a cop named Joe Martin that was running the boxing program. This was in 1954 and within weeks the 12 year old Clay had his first fight in the ring.

I guess God wanted to create the perfect example of a heavyweight, so he gave us Ali, a life such as his could not have been an accident, it must have been destiny.

the story is that he went into a gym for the first time because he wanted to beat up a boy who stole his bike. Angelo Dundee was there talked to him started to train him and the rest is history
