eliminate as much sugar as possible, drink a lot of water, don't eat fast food, eat about 10 small meals a day, work out, eat as healthy as you can (alot of fruit and what not), always take the stairs, walk the long way to where ever it is you're going, only weigh yourself once a week (same day and time), and work out once a day alternating between cardio and weight lifting. Don't expect too much, at 13 it might be hard to loose weight with the constant fluxuation of hormones.

For you and Shelly: Cut out as much red meat(including pork) as possible(all if you can). Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. Veggies either steamed or stir-fried in extra virgin olive oil or raw in salads. Eat more fresh fruits from a Farmer's Market if you have some close(they are organically grown). Drink organic fruit juices instead of sodas(either regular-which has too much sugar or diet soda-which has chemical sweeteners are the major causes of osteoporosis in women and some men). Drink at least 6 to 8 bottles of pure water every day and walk. Walk at least two miles every day after work or school. In thirty days you will have lost up to 30 pounds and converted a lot of the rest to muscle. Keep it up and don't be discouraged, it works.

Exercise, and a low carbohydrate diet, e.g., Atkins Diet, South Beach Diet. The South Beach Diet, evolved from the Atkins Diet. It is low carbohydrate, like the Atkins Diet, with less saturated fat. It appears to be a Mediterranean diet, without the carbohydrates. I am confident, you can find a book on it, in your school library, or your local public library. Learning the essentials, of good nutrition now, will benefit you, for the rest of your life.

Exercise (play sports, dance, etc.), eat a full breakfast & lunch & a light dinner. Of course, avoid sweets & fats, junk food, etc. Eat whole grains such as whole wheat bread & pasta b/c they fill you up more. Remember to lose weight at a moderate rate of 1-2 lbs./wk. Anything more is unsafe/unhealthy.

Not sure what you eat, but my teens like junk - not just for weight, but eating lots of fruits and veg. are great for you and drink lots of water, but if you really are concerned about your weight at 13, talk to your parents/ mom/ dad or an adult you can trust.Good luck!
Also- exercise!

Avoid soda.
Eat no more than you do usually...and try to eat less.
Excercise (even if it's just putting on music and dancing around your room).
Eat regular meals (don't skip b'fast, lunch or dinner).
Try to cut out after-dinner snacks so you don't eat right before you go to bed.
