It was pretty obvious to me that military force was going to be used against Iraq. After the years of Hussein ignoring the UN resolutions, Hussein making tons of money doing back door deals with france and some members of the UN, resulting in the oil-for-food scandle, it was inevitable.
If Americans were too busy with making money in the realestate market and being enamoured with Snoop Dogg, to pay attention to the world around them, then it is their problem.
I don't think that the president tried to deceive the people, people just started paying attention when it was too late to change the plan.
I think the ground work for the invasion was pre-planned well in advance. And it was going to happen.
I also think that 9/11 was an attempt to take our focus off of Iraq long enough for Hussein to get the WMD's out of the country, possibly into Syria.
And yes, I think that the UN did endorse the war, that explains why in the beginning so many member nations had a part to play. When the war started becoming unpopular, most of the others involved, started pulling out.
As far as the rest of the worlds population not endorsing the war, here is my opinion. The rest of the world being the underdeveloped, non industrialized population, doesn't care, or didn't know about the war because they are dealing with their own problems such as not having food, water, electric or they live under dictatorships where they aren't allowed enough information to form their own opinions. The real propaganda being formulated is the propaganda being broadcast by ABC/Rosie O'Donnell, and the lies being spawned by the Democrat Leadership in Washington DC. The big lie being that the Democrats support the troops, but not the war. If they didn't support the war or if most of them weren't making a ton of money off of it, then they would have sent the president this message, Bring the troops home, period. Instead they say change direction-bring the troops home-change direction-bring the troops home-change direction. What the hell do they wan't? A new direction in Iraq, or a pull out? THe Democrats are pulling a scam on the American People and they are using our troops to do it. They are doing the same thing that Iran is doing with the British sailors. They are using them as POLITICAL PAWNS. Shame on the Democrats!!!!!

I've thought about this a lot. I thought, "I must be crazy. Why am I seemingly the only one around here who sees the deceit and the lies this man is telling?"
I talked with my family and friends and most of them thought that the President was being honest and deserved our undivided support.
I am sorry to say I never thought he was being honest and I got very angry when I saw my senators and representatives swallowing the lies and voting for whatever he wanted for war/s.
The more I listened to the debates on whether we should go into Iraq or not, the more I began to see a house of cards. I firmly believe that no matter how right it seems, a war effort must be totally underestood by the people. The people never really understood what was going on. They were duped into believing that we were fighting the terrorists over there so ....well you've heard it enough.
Some of these senators voting for Bush's agenda were high on my list for potential 2008 presidential candidates. I emphasize "were".
I still am wondering what I saw that made me so sure that there was something rotten in the White House. And if I saw it, why didn't those who are given the responsiblility to ferret out the truth behind such proposals see it???That is just how it hit me and I remain convinced that if we could put it in RR we would jump at it.

THe UN is a joke, they wouldn't use war as a tool if a half million innocent people were being slaughtered, oh wait thats Rwanda. It doesn't really matter what the UN thinks or says, they are an ineffective organization that helped Saddam Hussein with their supposed "oil for food" program. If you really count on the UN to create justice in the world then your delusional.

The US government and media has effectively brainwashed the Americans that the war in Iraq is a valid means to thwart terrorism and help the Iraqis in disposing of an abusive leader (Saddam Hussien). It was an excellent propaganda move waged by the Bush administration.

The UN needed to step up and investigate the alligations and not keep moving the lines to be rossed by Saddam. Every time something went wrong the UN said well ok then just don't do it again, and again and again. The UN needs a leader not a wimp.

Easy there Chomsky.
There is far more at work here than what you
hear in the news. And just because your not
privy to the inner workings of global politics.
Does not mean that there is an evil conspiracy
at foot. If there is one place on earth that
we need a strong military presence,
it is in the middle east. I dont care what was said to get us there.
