I remember Sister's Chicken and Biscuits was a restaurant chain in the 80's, but I haven't seen any since. Anyway, they used to have the most amazing rice. It was green, (from herbs) saucy, and had bits of, what I think was sausage, in it. Just wondering if anyone else remembers this, and if anyone has a recipe.

Chicken, chicken, chicken: Sisters Chicken & Biscuits Restaurants found l through a research study that consumers did not readily recognize its units as chicken restaurants, partly because of industrywide menu expansions. That revelation was disturbing.

To help clear its blurred image, SIS Corp., the franchisor of Sisters Chicken & Biscuits Restaurants, has introduced a bouncy, new advertising campaign with the tag line "Chicken, Chicken, Chicken, Taste It."

The Westlake, Ohio-based chain claims the new television and radio spots "literally scream chicken" through quick cuts on a variety of Sisters' chicken products in a restaurant setting with singing and dancing crew members and customers.

"The format is a major departure from the sweet, gentle soft-sell message of previous campaigns," according to Bob Williams, Sisters' marketing director.

The new commercials are set to the 25-year-old song "Shake a Tail Feather," originally produced by Adrea Williams, Burlie Rice, and Otis Hays and first recorded by The Five Dutones. The new campaign includes two 30-second television commercials, a 60-second radio spot, outdoor billboards, and newspaper ads in all 23 company and franchise markets.

It is the first major change in advertising direction since SIS Corp. purchased the Sisters chain from Wendy's in April 1987. The advertising agency responsible: Stockton West Burkhart, Cincinnati.

6 large tomatillos (about 3/4 lb)
2 tablespoons water
1/3 cup minced fresh cilantro
4 teaspoons minced seeded jalapeno peppers
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 clove garlic, minced
1 1/4 cups uncooked long grain rice

Discard husks and stems from the tomatillos.
Cook the tomatillos in boiling water in a medium saucepan for 4 minutes or until soft; drain.
Combine the tomatillos and 2 teaspoons water in a blender and process until smooth.
Pour the tomatillo mixture into a 4 cup glass measure, and add enough water to mixture to measure 2& 1/2 cups.
Combine the tomatillo mixture, cilantro, jalapeno, salt and garlic in a saucepan, and bring to a boil.
Add rice; cover mixture, reduce heat, and simmer 20 minutes or until liquid is absorbed.
Remove from heat, and fluff with fork.

HELL YES! I used to work there. They had THE best chicken, chicken salad, catfish sandwiches, other sandwiches and some SERIOIS side dishes. Mashed potatoes, delicious rice, green beans, corn, incredible freshly baked biscuits - about every hour we would make them and keep them coming. I soft serve ice cream on the biscuits with strawberry topping... short cakes.. OMG! DEE LISH!
