I e-filed my tax already. return is low and already on its way. I had my taxes done by a tax consultant and the return is way higher than my e-file. I am guessing that I didn't claim my deductibles. Can I refile my taxes?

Your "tax consultant" sounds rather suspicious. If he or she knew what they were doing they would have explained to you that you need to file an amended return on Form 1040X.

What "deductibles" are you talking about? If you're having to guess about this, you need to get smart about your taxes! Filing a proper return is YOUR responsibility and YOURS ALONE.

Yes you can refile your taxes, just file a tax amendment form. And although you may be getting a higher return, you might want to consider the quality of this tax proffessional if he hasn't mentioned it to you earlier. And if you used turbotax, etc to make the efiling you can always go back into the program and get the form to amend your return yourself.

Good luck.

I am a NJ resident whose profession is tax preparation and advisory services.

Absolutely! You will file a 1040X. You can make any changes on your returns. You can only go back 3 years.

I'd get a 2nd opinion and request that the preparer who did your return to fix it-for free. And find someone new next year!

I would reccomend a Senior Tax Advisor from H & R Block for many reasons.

Good luck!

Did she acquire a W2 for 2007? What identity huge kind (ITIN or SSN) became on that sort?

You can't just send in another return, but you can have the tax person prepare an amended return to claim the additional refund.

File a 1040X to amend your return. Didn't your "tax consultant" tell you this? If not, get another opinion!
