I've been sick with a cold lately, and a sore throat. My throat feels like it's swollen, but I don't know how to tell if the glands are. Help?

do you have tonsitles? if so, open your mouth and look in a mirror and see if your glands are swollen or not. that's the easy way to tell if your glands are swollen or not.

Generally, if you can feel them, then they are swollen. Occasionally you can feel small glands - about the size of a lentil - which aren't swollen. If you have an infected throat, you may be able to feel swollen glands. That is natural. You only need to worry if your glands are very swollen - size of a grape - are painless and they don't go away, but instead keep growing larger.

Place your pointing finger and thumb on each side of your throat then swallow; if your glands press against your fingers then they are swollen. You will also fill a painful pinch that lets you know how swollen they may be.

the glands are under your jaw. Right where your jaw bones start. I think you would be able to tell if there swollen your neck would hurt and you wouldnt be able to move your neck. You might have strep. I would go to your family doctor and have them take a test for that. hope you fell better.
Try drinking hot honey tea or gargle with warm salt water

you shouldn't be able to feel the glands in your neck normally so if you feel anything (they can feel like a pea up to a grape) in your neck--generally under the back of your jawline, they're swollen

Do you know where these "glands" (lymph nodes) are? It's painful to push on them when they're swollen, and they feel bigger than normal.
