Not a bike I would choose, but look at the components. 21 gears use freewheel, rather than casset. This means that if you want to upgrade you have to replace the whole wheel. Go for 24. I assume Shimano. Haven't checked the page but you need to look at the suspension and the frame. The finishing kit is also important. You need a good aluminium frame, since steel is heavy. Steel is more rigid for riding, therefore good. But ali is lighter, therefore good. You also want a reasonable suspension. I would say that your on RST forks? If possible try for a better fork. Rockshock are OK, Manitou are better.

Do NOT buy from Walmart. Think about the piply youth responsible for stacking shelves, working the tills and knowing what they are doing assembling your bike.

You might also want to look at Giant or Trek. Check out these UK sites for an idea of speck:

I saw the Mongoose Blackcomb and was considering it. That one is WAY better in MANY ways and uses standard bicycle parts. However, be advised that you will be responsible for all repairs, because if your buying this bike at a department store (where I looked at it) there is no service after the sale. That may be no problem if, like me, you do your own work. But, if not, buyer beware.

haha yea do not buy a mongoose. Do not buy any bike from a department store. Like Toy's are us or Wal-Mart. If you ride your bike like every once and a while a sporting goods store would be the best. If your more of a weekend warrior or ride a good amount your local bike store would be the best place to buy a bike. Some possiable brands that are way better then mongoose are... Specialized, Kona, Giant, Cannondale just to name a few.

if ya ask me get a fixed gear bike
but
if you cant or dont want to i'd get the blackcomb
but beware that it isn't the bestplace to get it
you probally will have to fix the derailer alot ( the derailer is the rear gear changer)
