In all religion, God advocates us to love and respect each other.

Though I've seen a lot of people hurting others emotionally, physically or anything else that would trouble other people, all in the name of God or claim it to be God's will, or the truth.

So here's the wager, instead of fighting for God, why not spread love and respect instead?

If you're fighting for God, how do you know that really is God's will? What if you got it wrong? What if your actions would displeases God? What if it's just your own personal agenda?

If you spread love and respect, live in harmony and tolerance, God would love that. You have nothing to lose, don't you think?

So why not accept this wager?

Gee, I don't know where anyone would get the idea that the Christian god is jealous and wants people to worship only him and no other god and that they should fight with others about it... oh right, the Old Testament, where god sends out armies of Jews over and over and over to kill everyone who doesn't believe only in him! How silly of me to have forgotten that. You're right. The OT no longer is considered part of the bible by most christians, so spread the love, baby!

Sorry, my religion has never fought for or in the name of God. We already 'spread love and respect, live in harmony and tolerance' so I can't accept your wager.

"If you spread love and respect, live in harmony and tolerance, God would love that. You have nothing to lose, don't you think?"

I think that you would have to define what you mean by "love" in order for me to take you up on your offer.

For instance, many people think that it is "unloving" to tell another person that if they don't accept Jesus as their Savior before they die then they will have to stand before God and be judged for their sins and will end up in the Lake of Fire for all eternity.

But if I know that someone who thinks that it is safe to drink from a well they dug on their property is wrong and that the water has mercury in it that will eventually poison them should I respect their belief in the safety of their water or should I try to earnestly convince them that they are mistaken?

What demonstrates greater love and concern for a person, respecting their right to believe something that will lead to terrible consequences or taking the time and risking them not liking you by trying to warn them that they have made a mistake?

Now the Bible gives us guidelines to follow when we speak the truth in love and those should not be ignored.

1 Peter 3:15 But in your hearts regard Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; 16 yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.

2 Timothy 2:23 Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. 24 And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, 25 correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, 26 and they may escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.

I think you are right! we should fight for each other we should love one another - and keep each other safe - but then you come up with God at the end and I am not sure where you are going with that! sorry I don't understand?

I'm a theist (ish) and I don't fight people in the name of God. God doesn't need me to defend Him.

I love and respect, but I must tell the truth, as I know it... then you decide.
