LOL. I love your analogy! But in reality, it would be more like hitting the delete button, since it doesn't go anywhere ;-)

Amen is Hebrew for so be it, but according to Khemetic belief it also goes back to Egyptian culture (and was later adopted by Judaism). Amen was the hidden side of the God Amen Ra. So when you wanted to send the prayer to the highest, most hidden god, you ended prayer with Amen.

People say amen at the end of a prayer - it means 'so be it'.

In traditional Jewish prayer, you are saying Amen to someone else's prayer. So when you pray, you also listen, so you can hear someone else's voice and what they are asking for.

Your "so be it." is actually for someone else. Theirs is for you.

So, yes, you are "closing out" a prayer -- someone else's prayer. You are affirming that you believe what they want is for the good of all.

Exactly. Amen is the "over and out" for the prayer. I guess it is to inform god you are done talking to him.

"Amen" is the listeners why of "agreeing" with what was said in the prayer. You are acknowldging the words as if they are you own or you are agreeing with them.

I think its interesting that amen is very similar to the name, "Amen Ra."

It means "so be it." But I like your explanation much better. That is, enter or send the message. It is so topical.

Amen means SO Be It.

How stupid can you get. Amen is a final conformation that you believe in everything you have just said in mass, and it is a final declaration of your love for god.
