OK; I have been trying to meditate so that I can meet with my totem (who happens to be an elephant). I have been trying for two days straight... I just couldn't meditate. So eventually I was lying in the tub and I decided to try it again. The soft trinkling from the water was really relaxing and I felt kind of aware of my surroundings. Then an image came to me and the elephant was behind the shower door and was speaking to me. It told me its name and some other things. So, did I finally do it? I wasn't sleeping or anything...

Most likely...here's a tip to get into a good meditation, cause i used to have issues as well...

...close your eyes, and see a screen, this is your minds eye.
See the number 12 on your screen, then 11, 10, and so on. Go slowly...

...Once to 0, let the countdown from 13 kind of flow, don't see the numbers on your screen. Once you're at 0, you're in a meditative state.

When done, count up slowly from 0 to 13, and gently wiggle your toes/fingers, you're done.

hope this helps.

Always remember this, Freud was a lunatic with serious issues about women. A real sexist too!

Now! Hooray!

I don't call it meditation but it is valid.

I get all kinds of things passing through and I just use common sense. Now contemplate the whole thing and you may slip into real meditation.

Enjoy!

Sugar, you did it! You said that you had been trying for 2 days right? Remember, you can try so hard that its counter productive, just relax and let it flow.

To hear an elephant speak to you is schizophrenia, not meditation.

*edit* According to three thumb-downers hearing an elephant speak to you is a GOOD thing. Let's see... listen to them... or listen to me?
