As a person becomes more spiritually mature, the signs of the spirit of the Lord will display in thier lives ( love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control)To become Christ-like in nature as a natural progression. So it is not so much about releasing attachments. Not about the painful separations or the 'giving up' of anything. It is about your own soul yearning and displaying what God himself is like. There will be no attachment to 'give up' because there will be no attachment to anything that would not be in line with yourself, and with God at that point. So there is no need for enforced rules. No negative push and guilt and unloving demands as to what is 'right'. You will choose your way of life by the person that you are. Don't concentrate on rules. Concentrate on spiritual developement. The love of God and of mankind. All else softly flows in.

if you are referring to affliations with groups, organizations and persons, then my religious beliefs proscribe participation in those things that would contradict the teachings I have received or that would hurt my faith in Jesus Christ.

Generally speaking, I believe that if you are "walking the walk" in your beliefs as a spiritual person, you would free yourself of any and all attachments that would keep you from exercising your rights to worship and believe as you saw fit.

No hate organizations or affiliation with those who preach intolerance and hate for others.

No participation in activities that would cast a bad light on my personal beliefs and faith.

That means that people who are critical and unyeilding have to go as well.

HOpe that helps.

None in this lifetime. I am addicted to the senses. My purpose in this lifetime is to be a sensual being. I think that in order for one to overcome attachments, one must experience them to the fullest, embrace all of the experiences involved in the process (good and bad), accept yourself for who you are, forgive yourself and finally love yourself in spite of everything. I think that love, forgiveness and acceptance are paramount to the divine experience. I think that this is what Jesus Christ tried to teach his fellow human beings.

I don't have to release anything. And I don't see why you would need to release attachments for a religion. No offense, but I find it quite stupid.

It depends on your definition of "attachments". Can you expound on this for us, please?

My gods don't make requirements of me in that fashion. I naturally give up attachments to out-worn notions, habits, etc.. things that don't "grow corn" for me, spiritually as I grow.

Yet another admirable quality of this Jesus fella, not to mention mature. You have to love me and only me, turn your back on your family and friends and come with me; or I won't be your best friend.
