It seems that many people mistrust other religions, and I think that this stems from a lack of understanding of other religions. So, would you answer by giving your religion and the basic jist of it so that people may better understand it? Also, give your opinion on religion & tolerance in today's world (for a best answer).

Aw, sweetie, this is such a noble effort on your part. But, the truth is that most of the intolerance today stems from people not WANTING to learn about others' beliefs.. the majority religions in the world today are monotheistic who serve a god that tells them its his way or some form of eternal punishment.
Therefore, they demonize all other beliefs in order to keep people from learning about them in the first place.

Nontheist.

God is irrelevant.

Logic and empathy are the basis of morality, not the mythology of our simian ancestors.

...

The need for religious tolerance is professed by many, but absolutely no one actually practices it. Therefore, I believe it is time to get past that naive idea and admit that many beliefs are completely unjustified and need to be changed.

As long as people claim that all beliefs are equally justified, there is no incentive to question those you hold. Once people have admitted that they might be wrong about some things, then they lose the hard shell on their beliefs and begin to search for the truth.

That is what society really needs. Not more cries for "religious tolerance" that will never occur.

I am a Spiritualist. Although I do consider myself agnostic. I believe in a few things here --that the universe is all too powerful and infinite to try to comprehend---I live by the golden rule---I still pray for others and help the less fortunate in any way I can. And I also think that people SHOULD have different religions and be proud of their own beliefs--and most importantly, not have to justify or force their beliefs on anyone or think theirs is 'better' or 'more right'. As long as our own faith betters ourselves & humanity, than why try to compare or insult other's? I think that life can be extremely hard at times--and we all need our own ways to pull through.

I'm Wiccan (witch...same thing).

We basically love the Earth, are Polytheistic, and believe in harming none, "so mote it be". That's it in a nutshell, yeah there are spells too and meditations, but that's getting into some deep stuff.

I really wish that people were much more tolerant these days. People continue to discriminate against others for stuff they don't understand. I think its because they're either ignorant, or scared of the unknown. Its sad, but I hope it gets better in the future.

I think that many people mistrust other beliefs because the teachings of their religion tell them that other beliefs are wrong. Sadly, I'm not sure there's a way around this.

But for what it's worth, I think of myself as a Taoist.

Taoists believe that there is a flow in the universe, and it is called Tao. Tao flows slowly, however it is never stagnant and is incredibly powerful and keeps things in the universe balanced and in order. By harmonising oneself with the 'way' of the Tao man can live happily.

Because of this, Taoists have a deep feeling of connection with the entirety of creation. Taoist teachings emphasise love, moderation and humility.

Thank you for your question.

I am Asatru.

Asatru is a living religion, practiced by a rapidly growing number of people throughout the world. Asatru is a polytheistic, nature-oriented faith grounded in an honoring of the High Gods of the Aesir and the Vanir, the reverence for ancestors and our moral code is implicit in the observance of the Nine Noble Virtues

Those who practice Asatru are called Asatruar, Asafolk, Tru Folk, Odinists, Germanic Heathens or just worshippers of the Germanic religion.

The Asatru way of life esteems: courage, honour, hospitality, independence (and liberty), individuality (with self-reliance, family and self-responsibility), industriousness (and perseverance), justice (including an innate sense of fairness and respect for others), loyalty (to family, friends and folk), truthfulness, and a willingness to stand up for what is right.

I don't have religion. I think that anyone that needs it is week minded and a fool to believe in an others law. society makes the law not your church or any other place of worship. If there was no religion i think the planet would be a far better place as a lot of people would not have been killed in its name. Religion is the opiate for the masses and a way of controlling the week and lets face it making money for itself

I challenge the belief that "you don't believe in my religion because you don't know enough about it." That attitude begs the question of "If you only devoted enough attention to MY religion, you'd see it was the One True Faith."

I've studied enough religion that I'm now better versed on the Bible than many Christians, and know more about the Vatican's attitudes than many Catholics. And instead of bringing about any kind of conversion, my research has made me believe that all religions were created by human beings for political reasons.

There is no one "miracle book" that can convert everyone. Some of us can spend years of our lives studying religion, and only come away with more and more reasons for the impossibility of belief.

well i feel i lean on the atheist side... i dont believe in god, jesus, hell or heaven.. i use to be christian catholic and i attended church classes for a really long time.. i stopped believing about a year ago becuase i actually started paying attention to what the christian faith is saying, and i started reading the bible and that made me lose all belief in that religion. my opinion on religion today is that its taken way to far. people act offended if they find out that some one doesnt believe in what they believe in. but i have met some people where they dont care what u believe in at all, which is really nice. i think that religion now a days is taken way to far. people just need to get over it and stop making such a big deal about it. but yeah...

I am a christian, and will be converting to Catholicism.

God sent Jesus to this erath to save us all from eternal damnation and to give us eternal life in heaven. Jesus suffered at the hands on pontius Pilate, and was crucified. He was mocked by many people, but he rose again, and is seated at the right hand of the father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I think religion is a great thing, and i think its good to belive in god and that we are not alone on this planet. I am interested in other religions around the world, and i belive that there are many ignorant people out there who dont care or are not interedted in understanding more about other cultures/religions.

I think people should appreciate different cultures and embrace them. There isnt much tolerance in our 21st centruy society.
