most debtors eventually lose either from judgements or bankruptcy its true we are eventually punished somehow but what about those who get away with it because they own very little and just laugh their way through it? they have no good excuse and are eventually written off. should they not be punished as well maybe a little jail time or a whipping?

it is hard to see some people ( I have relatives who have done this) just do things and have it all fall off eventually when the rest of us who have worked hard and fallen into hard times due to job loss, medical bills, credit card changes in interest and minimum payments (I am all of the above) or the new problem of adjustable rate mortgages, well it is not fair when we resort to debt counseling and then end up in Bankruptcy (me) and try to pay things off the best we can before we give in and have to declare bankruptcy when others just as you say "laugh it off". I dont think there is anything that can be done, really. I do think that most collectors go after everyone the same way. Judgment liens on house are rare and 99% of the time illegal, but they can all go after wage garnishments after court proceedings and so on. So I don't know. This is a tough one. But I just wish people would not pass judgment on those of us who have fallen into really hard times due to financial hardships, NOT due to overspending.

well im venturing to say im only gonna get a 50% approval amongst the group for my answer, but thats ok, #1 is filing bankrupty the end of your life, or the first day of a new life, #2 your only guaranteed today, noone in this group can guarantee you tomorrow. Ok, with that said money sux, do u realize that people that are making $60k are as broke as those making $20k ?? is 17% interest on credit cards fair ?? are $3.00 gas prices fair, bankruptcy to me in the equivilent of financial checks and balances, when we borrowed the money. we didnt know bush jr was gonna finish off daddys dreams and failures, by causing what is quickly becoming WW3 and the end of sanity in america as our grandparents knew it, and ur question was ummm, what about those that are smart enuff to get their ducks in a row so as to suffer the least punishment ?? hahahaha, ur question is sounding more dumb eh, but lets not stop there, ok lets throw them in jail, hmmm 3 square meals a day, a place to stay warm, and some brainless fat cop with a donut stuck to his forehead "running things" so how bout if we do this, let all the child murders out, put all the poor people in and rename the jail "The Poor House" feel better yet ?? well hee ok lets just euthinize poor people that will save money, we will call the injection "the buck stopped here", i think your real question should have been, if i get in financial trouble, how do i cover my *** like all u intelligent people out there, oh and, lets cut out the last meal, and, sterile needles to euthinize someone, no way, look there, we are saving money already.

Are you retarded? Don't you know that any company loss is a write off on their tax return? These corporations are not losing a damn dime. Who in the hell is going to pay for their incarnceration? the taxpayers not the creditors. Who is going to care for their children while they are in jail? who is going to pay their rent etc........ ? You should go to jail for being an idiot. Maybe they lost their job? or became ill? they husband or wife left them? etc.... You don't know what a persons situation could be maybe their interest rate went up on their mortgage now their payments have doubled? Maybe their property taxes went up? What do you think written off means? What an idiot. You need a whipping!!!

Unfortunately, their only punishment is a bad credit rating and high risk/high interest loans for life. I'd be for debtor's prison being brought back!
