If you run a business from HOME, it is based wherever HOME is. If your business is located in Indiana, you need to file an Indiana tax return.

I am a NJ resident whose profession is tax preparation and advisory services. Be glad to help you with your question.
As an Illinois resident you are required to pay Illinois state tax on all income no matter where your income was earned. According to Indiana, if you were a legal resident of another state and had income from Indiana you have to fill out form IT-40PNR. If you were a full year resident of Michigan, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, or Wisconsin , and you only income was from wages, salaries, tips or commssion, you fill out the IT-40RNR. And if you had any other type of income like farm income, rental income, or sole proprietor income lie yourself, you cannot file IT-40RNR, you must file IT-40PNR.
Hope this helps! Good luck!
