So my boyfriend and I met up with some friends at a bar with $1 Drink Night. We ordered 2 drinks each and kept an open tab. Our friends had already been there for a half hour and had ordered a bunch of drinks. After serving us our drinks the waitress looked at us and said "You guys haven't tipped me yet." She turned to me and my bf and said, "I know you guys have an open tab, but the others haven't tipped me." She wasn't all bitchy about it, she just kinda pointed it out. After that she ignored our table for like 20 minutes until my bf went up to her and asked her for some drinks and assured her we'd tip her at the end of the night. We ended up tipping her $15 on a $15 tab (we figured $1 for every drink she got us).

2 questions:
Was that rude of her to mention?
and
Did we tip her too much or too little??? How much do you tip on $1 Drink Night???

1. UNBELIEVABLY RUDE of her to mention a tip!
2. A dollar per drink on dollar night is generous and about what I would expect.

I would make certain to avoid her in the future by either going into another waitress' section or fetching drinks myself directly from the bar.

Wow i don't know what I'd if that would happen to me. Right now I'm thinking no tip though! That was extremely rude for her to say anything. If she said it in the nicest way possible, I still wouldn't tip. You don't even deserve a tip unless you earn it. Don't people get that. Besides you had an open tab, that comes to you after your customers leave not after every stinkin drink. What is with some people. Just to let you know, you were over generous to her. For 15 dollars worth of drinks, the most I'd tip would be 5 bucks. That's way more than they deserve for giving you drinks.

LOL WOW! I would tip a dollar a drink on a dollar drink night but if the waitress had the nerve to mention we werent tipping as we were going on an open tab she would loose all of her tips!!! I cant believe that, open tab means you pay at the end so tip comes when you pay. You dont tip the waitress as you eat at dinner do you? No you tip when you pay. You were too nice in my opinion :)

Well, 15% on a 15 dollar tab is $2.25 and .75 cents for two drinks if you want to follow the 15% rule.

I think it was rude of her to ask, even though waitresses depend on tips, You tip at the end of the evening. if a waitress said that to me, I wouldn't have tipped her at all.

She was very rude to mention a tip. I think you tipped her correctly. I usually tip on the full value of the meal, drinks or service.

on 1$ drink night me and a group (about 6 of us) would take turns buying rounds of drinks and off of every round we would tip her a couple bucks.

a bold man gets the meat, a shy man gets the gravy.

rude of her but apparently it worked out as you gave her 15 dollars.

I'd have tipped her the same as I respect people who are forward about what they want..
