Royal is at it again. he is right of course. I will put a different slant on it if he doesn't mind. When you die your soul goes back to the father who created it wherever he is . That place is divided by a deep chasm that no one may cross. On one side are the people who are not saved on the other side where god is are the people who are saved. After Christ died on the cross it says he descended into hell but actually he went to the side of heaven where the unsaved are and preached his gospel of salvation, and many were saved. case in point. Christ was asked who will reach heaven first , the people who have died or the people who are transfigured when he comes back. Christ simply said there is no way that those people could arrive in heaven before the dead because they are already there. I hope you can accept this. Hey check it out.

See Luke 16:20-. This is about the rich man and Lazarus. This shows that there is a place of paradise, and torment. Hebrews 9:27 speaks of it is for man to die and judgment. The body is in the grave. The soul and spirit go to either Heaven or Hell. As Jesus said on the cross to one thief "Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. " (Luke 23:43)
When the rapture is implied, this is a resurrection of the physical body, raised to incorruption, and it joins with the soul and spirit.

I wont give you fruit for thought but a little food. God said 'from dust you were formed, unto dust you shall return'. When He talked of raising the dead, I presume He meant their souls, and not their physical bodies, as that should remain under the earth. The souls that were before Jesus, would have remained in purgatory until He accepted them into heaven. Just my humble opinion.

A lot of christians have diffrent views on this. The thing i read a long time ago says people are still in the ground waiting for jesus to come back, OTHERS will say people are already in hell now.

I don't believe in hell so i don't care either way.

Revelation 7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
Does this look like they are in a grave???

Eccl.12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it............Does this look like they are in a grave???

Well it depends on two things really,one is wether you are a Christian believer and the other depends on your own denomination, as a Catholic my faith says that after death we go before Christ and are given a personal judgement and we will be in either Heaven, Hell or Purgatory depending on how we loved God and our Neighbor etc.
This is not to be confused with the general judgement that will occur someday in the future.

I don't find the Bible to be clear on this. Some believe in "soul sleep" ... others believe "absent in the body is to be present with Christ".

Jesus indicated that the thief would be in paradise later that day.

In Islam when you die, you dont right away go to heaven or hell, because you have to wait for the day of judgment, so right now everyone who has died are still waiting to be judged in the day of judgment.
