I guess a box brownie is a camera (having read all the answers above), but do you know what a "brownie box" is ?

Just to put your mind at rest... it's a yellow plastic box with "Brownies" printed on top. Brownie Guides use it to keep all their books and things in.

:-)

Yes it was an old camera, it was inside a brown leather box with the lens showing through a hole in the box. You used the camera without taking it out of the box, hence the name 'Box Browine'.
The 'Brownie Camera' is celebrating its 107th birthday this year. See website

A box brownie is a very early photography camera and if one is in good condition they still can be used today and still take good films. Some photography dealers keep them in a show case with other old cameras.

It's an old fashioned biscuit that you can take pictures with. Sort of like an edible digital camera from about 60-70 years ago. The lens was a squashed flat raisin, and you pushed a chocolate button to take the picture. It came in a box!

A camera that came into being around 1940's. It was one of the first cameras that used film instead of plates enabling the general public to take photos, instead of having them professionally taken.
