Not really. Although in the English version it is correct to say "takes place", Spanish is a bit different: "La Navidad se celebra el veinticinco de diciembre" or "Christmas is celebrated on December 25th".

Lizardonearth is right about Hispanics celebrating 3 Kings Day, but it is in addition to Christmas, not instead. The 3 Kings bring presents to the kids on the night of the 5th of January. Christmas, and especially Christmas Eve ("Nochebuena") is celebrated throughout Latin America and Spain.

I thought that many spanish people celebrate 3 kings day which is january 6....
