Yeh im a catholic and I read The Sun this morning, and I thought yeh what a question to ask thanks for pinching my idea dino haha kidding.
Look I just dont understand how so many cahtolics can be offended to want to boycott this hotel or whatever. They made Jesus shouldn';t they be pleased they are making such a wonderful person, yeh ok its chocolate big deal?
I can't understand why so many people in religious groups (im not saying all) take it to such extremes as boycots just because someone has done the smallest thing which didnt mean offence they obviouslly are a follower of Jesus and shouldn't we promote it not turn our cheeks on such an idea? Jesus wouldn't want this to happen a boycott just because someone decided to make a chocolate sculpture thing of him. dear oh dear me..

Yeah... I read about this!

It's hard to say exactly what the point is without hearing from the artist. This may be one of those cases where you really do need to hear from the artist in order to "get it."

The sculptor could be doing what the Catholic group says, and mocking Christ, Christians and Easter ...

or ... (s)he could be making a statement about what Easter has become (chocolate bunnies) versus what it was meant to be.

Given the title, I'd say it's probably the former... but before we get all ticked off and form a crusade... remember that God doesn't need us to protect Him. Non-Christians can't be expected to act as Christians. Forget that and go on some giant boycott and we become like the Muslims who demanded the heads of the cartoonists that made fun of Muhammed.

Oh well .... just my thoughts ...

Yeah, the Catholic Church (Inc) wasn't real hot on that David statue at the time, either. In this case they can stomp around and scream shrilly enough that things got turned around before the word gets out that Jesus was a man. First David, now Jesus. Is nothing going to remain a mystery in this place?

I agree with you, don't Christians read the bible anymore?
Jesus asked the disciples to eat of his body in a symbolic gesture at the last supper, what better way to celebrate Easter.

What's more, even devout christians would be hard-pressed to find a food more heavenly than chocolate.

(In the course of the Last Supper Jesus divides up some bread, says grace, and hands the pieces to his disciples, saying this is my body. He then takes a cup of wine, says grace, and hands it around, saying this is my blood of the 'covenant', which is poured for many . Finally he tells the disciples do this in remembrance of me.)- from wikipedia

What I'm trying to understand is why are they worked up over a chocolate Jesus when they have statues of him suffering a bleeding on a cross hung all over their churches and homes. I would think the chocolate Jesus is a much more pleasant idea. At least he is alive and well until somebody gobbles him up.

I'm curious as to why you think Jesus WOULD want someone to take part in it. The bible says not to make images of anything in heaven or earth so as to worship it, yet the churches are FILLED with statues to kneel down and pray too. For them to boycott this 'chocolate Jesus' is HILARIOUS in my opinion.

Personally...I wouldnt eat one but I wouldnt make it this big public boycotting issue either.

Being made into chocolate is an honor. chocolate is good and it probably took such a long time to make. How could these people be offended unless they are diabetic or hate chocolate.

Not a fan of christianity, but chocolate is one of the few good things that came out of it. Maybe they dont like the fact that Jesus can be eaten yet, when i was growing up as a catholic, the priest said things like eat my flesh and drink my blood.

It has to do with the fact that he's naked. There are even non religious people who don't like the image simply because of the nudity. No parent wants their children to see nude images of any kind.

I'm not christian. but i dunno, somehow i think if someone made a nude chocolate statue of george washington, or martin luther king ppl would get just as offended. it's just dumb- but it's ridicuous to get so upset bc that's exactly what this guy wanted, so he can get his 15 minutes of fame. It's just dumb. (i repated that on purpose btw. k.)

Now I'm all hungry
