Wax is just what it sounds like, a hair product made of wax that is used to style the hair. It makes hair stiff and keeps it in place but does not get crusty like gel. Companies use the words wax, pomade, and paste interchangeably since they are so similar. Pomade tends to be a bit more greasy though.

wax will allow your hair to move and it is also allows more freedom when styling. paste on the other hand is like hairspray which leaves your hair feeling stiff and may cause greesy hair and scalp. pantine is a great wax pomade.
