There are >30,000 Christian sects and denominations! You needn't even *ask* your questions with *that* kind of diversity.

We have the scriptures to decide who is a true Christian and who is not. The Lord Jesus said that you would not a tree by it's fruit. Do men gather grapes from thorns? If a person is a true Christian there will be some evidence of God in there life. At the same time, some Christians have fell into snares in their life because of a struggle with sin. But God is the judge over all.

How else could those who aren't true Christians fool themselves into believing a lie? If we all agreed, we all would be saved. But the gate is narrow, and there are too many 'Christians' out there who haven't really been told the Truth. That's why it is SO IMPORTANT to read the Scriptures with understanding.

Truth is, we Christians really can't agree on much of anything. We all have different experiences and interpretations on scripture, so it makes sense that we wouldn't be able to agree on what constitutes a "true" Christian. Personally, I feel that a "true" Christian is one who has accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and at least TRIES to be Christ-like. We all fail sometimes, though, so I try not to judge anyone.

I think it's possible for many Christians to believe who a true Christian and who is not. I believe it's important to consider the variances inherent with a human's ability to interpret the Bible. These differences could be attributed to an individual's own experience, to include social, financial, ethnic, racial and other influences. It ultimately comes down to faith. What do *you* believe or *want* to believe?

It's because of the contradictory nature of the Bible. Many Christians will claim that the Bible is non-contradictory, yet they can't agree with each other because each can find Bible verse that supports their own views, sometimes even when those views are totally opposite of each other. In reality the Bible is very contradictory. Plus, some Bible verse is difficult to interpret, and may be interpreted many different ways.

I believe a true Christian is someone who gives their heart to God and lives their life for him. It's not that hard. Some people are just obsessive and believe strict rules (some think Christians should not love anything in the world 'cause it's sinful, should be poor, etc.) apply to actually make you a true believer. But it's a fact that that's not so, and the Bible clearly states that. If you are living your life for Him and try to do your best to follow Him, then you're fine.

For the same reason Republicans and Democrats can't agree about what's good for the country.

They look at the same document from different perspectives. Christians look at the Bible (and often each other) from opposite perspectives (like how much of salvation is reliant upon obedience or grace).

In my opinion the real Jews would be the Jews who became Christians, because Jesus(Pbuh) was foretold in the Torah, so they would be following the Torah.
Ad a real Christian would become Muslim, because Mohammad(pbuh) was foretold in the Bible. "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Paraclete, that he may abide with you into the age (to come)." John 14:16 Paraclete means praised one, the exact meaning of Mohammad in arabic. "But i tellyou the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Paraclete shall not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you." John 16:7 this is not referring to the Holy spirit because holy spirit was already present at the time of Jesus(pbuh). this is just one of the many verses about Mohammad (Pbuh) in the bible.

Well, give even just a thousand people a book that is internally flawed and contradicts itself numerous times - a book that can be used to justify numerous positions and interpretations.

Now tell them they must live their lives by it or they will burn eternally.

When this happens, people tend to be scared of different opinions. So, they come up with their ideas about why that person is wrong... even though that person reads the same book, and gets something equally valid, yet different, from doing so.
