I am having an atheist over and want everything to be right and in line with his deep and rich traditions.

Well the main course should be "narcissism", with a few side dishes of "contempt" and "deceit", and then for dessert, a big helping of "servility" and "shamelessness".

I don't get it... what atheist traditions? Is this supposed to be funny? Am I missing a joke?
My husband and I usually have dinner with his father on Sunday evenings. We usually go to a steakhouse but sometimes my father in law feels like Dennys. I don't mind... he always pays!

Cook some food. Cheeseburgers maybe.
Serve at table. Offer some beer, wine, coffee, soft drinks.
Consume food, have stimulating conversation.
Ice cream for dessert, or Girl Scout cookies if you have any left.
Clean up, accept your guest help if offered.
Play cards or Scrabble.
But don't play trivial pursuit if you're a poor loser, cuz atheists always win trivial pursuit.

If you dish more than the sarcasm of this post and decide instead to convert him, you will likely be dishing out ignorance and superstition with a lot of idiocy for dessert. If you think so little of your friend, why are you being such a hypocrite, smiling to his face and making comments like this at his back.

It's hard not having fear based traditions, I usually sit down and just eat. I even bow my head for my host prayer, I do that to make sure my napkin is not going to fall off of my lap. So how's those prayers for World peace working out?
