Why do people spit so much in public places?I think its so disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have got an idea, why can't they carry some pocket sized tissues and use them instead!

The real question is what are they dong to cause such an abundance of spit? I can't say the average person has a problem with this. It is just nasty!!

I was born and bred in Newham, a borough in East London and it is called the TB capital, mostly because (and this is not intended racist) people from foreign counties, where this disease is rife, spit on the ground ALL the time. It's not only disgusting but potentially fatal.
All children born in Newham are immunised against TB within a few weeks of being born. This doesn't happen in many other places.
Spitting should be illegal EVERYWHERE!

Because their parents didn't teach them good manners. It's absolutely disguisting. But thankfully all the guys I know who dip carry little cups with them to spit into (some can be quite nice). So that helps the issue.

Thats it Im moving to Oaklahoma because I feel sick whenever I see someone doing this. I think its really disgusting especially when its a big greener that they are spitting out.

Sadly there are some sad creatures that walk this earth, that seem determined to make everything as rotten and filthy as they are.
With TB on the increase in England, they are going to in force a policy to stop this happening, as they have now done in CHINA.

Agreed. Spitting on the sidewalk is icky to the max. So is leaving your gum or cigarette butts scattered around.

People simply haven't been trained in etiquette. You might send them an anonymous note or letter explaining the problem. See what happens.

I think it's psychological. Certainly in the cases of male chavs, it's their way of saying
"Look how manly and butch I am - I don't swallow anyone's bodily fluids, not even my own!"
As well as being a legal alternative to pissing on an area to claim it as their territory.

Ew, I know what you mean! Especially when they hock it from deep in their throat and then spit on the sidewalk! Ew, and when there's people around! I always stop and put my hands on my hips and glare them down.

i feel nauseated everytime i hear someone spitting. i think it is absolutely atrocious. i dont know why people cant just not do that. or if they MUST do it, they need to step into a restroom and do it away from everyone.
