Because the bible is NOT the word of God.

The God I believe in would not order me to put my son to death for cursing me.

Well, technically, 'bible' is simply an anglification of the Greek word byblos, which means book.

So uncapitalized, it could technically refer to any book. Capitalized, it's taken on the connotation of The Book, which to the parts of the world that were overrun by the Roman Empire and its descendants, is of course the Christian canon.

Most Christians are so used to being the dominant culture that they interpret anything different as a threat. Whatever you do, one of them will take offense. So act in the way that is most honest to your beliefs and viewpoint.

Bible is the name of many books, Holy Bible, Shooter's Bible, Sewing Bible ,etc. As part of the title , the word should be capitalized. As for you not believing in a GOd who would command you to "put your son to death for cursing you", then know this. The Holy Bible is 2 parts. The Old Testament which is mostly a history book & the New Testament which lets us know that we are not commanded to handle things in that manner any more. GOD does not want us to retaliate harshly for things. That's why HIS own Son died, to atone for our sins. Now we are told only to ask forgiveness & to repent, to let Jesus into our hearts & treat our neighbors as ourselves. Noone on this earth is perfect so we all sin.

Which bible do you study from? (I only capitalize when I put Holy Bible)

Mine is the KJV.

My God don't tolerate sin. Not even from His own Son that has taken on other people's sins. My God would turn His back on Him also and just let Him die.
Thank God He resurrected Him to be with Him in power to set me free by the sacrifice He made.

That is really sad. I wish more people would put their faith in God, instead of some 2000+ year old book. When you make the Bible infallible you have made it into an idol.

His Son died for you!! God had his own Son put to death for all mankind, but you don't see that love. You can't see how much it hurt God to see his own Son beaten, spit upon, rejected, and DIE. You are reading the Old Testament. Jesus paid the price for ALL sins. The bible is the word of God. If you don't believe in the word of God, that is your choice. FREEWILL. Have a nice day.

On a technical note, the Bible is the title of a book, so it should be capitalized, whether you believe it to be truth or not.

There is something your son can do before you can kill him.

If he comes home and discovers the family worshippping a false god, he is totally within his rights to stone all of you.

As for not capitalizing bible, I believe that is punishable by exile to hell.

I capitalize Bible because it's the title of a book, and therefore a proper noun.

However, since all it means is "the book" I think it's a rather disingenuous title.

The Bible is a title, and thus should probably be capitalised (and italicised) whatever you think of it. Just like "David Copperfield", or "Crime and Punishment". Individual books of the Bible should be capitalised, but usually not italicised.
