How many vodka and oranges does it take for you to feel tipsy? I'm wondering if I have a really high alcohol tolerance cos it takes me a fair few.

I drink salty dogs and screwdrivers so we have similar tastes. But as many others are saying here, it always depends with me too. It's usually a lot different for me if I am hungry vs fed, if I am tired vs rested, how fast I drink them, and even the time of the month. I can get plastered when I am PMSing...and that is probably both hormonal and emotional.

Having a high tolerance is not usually a good thing...it is more expensive for one, plus it ins't really something to be proud of that you can "hold your liquor" know what I mean?

I'm a lightweight with alcohol, and I would rather enjoy the drink and the night, rather than getting bombed, so I ask them to make them tall and go easy on the booze so honestly, my drinks are about 1/4 as strong as what they give everyone else, and that is just my taste pref. I don't like the bitter burn of a really strong drink. I also tend to lose control rather easily so I usually talk to the bartender (deal with the same one all night) while I'm still sober, and tip them fat cash right then and there...when I order my first drink. Usually its something like, "Help me count, will ya? My limit tonight is four." They are usually more than happy to help keep eyes on me, and even if they don't, I will feel like I am holding myself accountable to someone else. And if I do get a little crazy, they know to cut me off (no hard feelings) and that I didn't set out to be rowdy and make their job harder.

It's just a coping skill until I can embrace the idea that I probably should not drink at all. An emotional sore spot with me.

It really is based on how much liquor is in each one. You can have the restaurant pours (exactly 1 1/4 oz per drink), in which case we're talking about 7 or 8 drinks.

Or, you can have the college frat party pour (anywhere from 4 oz to a glass of vodka with a hint of oj) in which case 3 or 4 will do.

The point of the matter is that it isn't how many you have, but how many you remember having. Cheers.

Depending on how much booze is in each drink you could get a buzz from one. If there is not much booze in each drink it could be several.
