I'm new to online shopping as well as debit cards and I want to make a purchase from a website that says nothing about debit cards. It supports Visa (among other things) which my debit card seems to be tied to so would it be an acceptable form of payment?

You bet you can. As long as it carries a Visa/Mastercard logo, shop away

Yes, they run it as a credit.

A lot safer...

I always run everything as credit, so I never have to use my pin number in public.

Yes. You can use it as long as it has a major cc logo on it.
