If You've Been Dying It Red For This Long, (And Your Hair Has "Natural " Red Tones) You May Have Trouble "Getting The Red-Out" Try Visine® (Ha!Ha!-Just A Little Joke) Actually, You May Need To Remove Some Color to Get Rid Of The Red. Get A Color Remover From The Beauty Supply And Leave It On Untill Your Hair Is AT LEAST TWO SHADES Lighter Than The Color You Want. If Red Or Orange Still Remains, Get A Professional Color Ash Brown With A Green Or Green-Blue Base (Clairol And Wella) To Recolor. (Your Hair Should Become A "Neutral" Or "Soft" (Slightly) Ash Brown) But Remember, If You Look Good In Red. An "Ash" Or "Neutral" Brown May Not Be Flattering To Your Skin Tone.

u gotta canel out the red with green! Green will bring the hair back to it's neutral color. Have a Professional do it! You'll appreciate it in the long run. You'll have to spend to correct the color then spend again to get the color u want. It's called a Double-Service charge.

go to a professional. do not dye your own hair.
there are things that professionals can do that box color cant. like fillers, toners, etc. dont go to some ho dunk salon either. go to a REAL professional. try an AVEDA salon, some of the BEST trained in the world.

red is the hardest color to get rid of ESP. if you used HENNA in the original red.
really, if there was henna in the original color, youre going to have to grow it all the way out. one cut at a time.

green counteracts red so you need to get a dye that has greenish undertones in it, so i think you would want to look for dyes that have the word ash in them. you should really just go to a professional though, it'll be expensive but in the end it'll be worth it. i dyed my blonde hair a deep maroon once and i tried to fix it on my own by bleaching it - worst idea ever!! i ended up with ugly super damaged hair and had to cut a lot of it off. good luck with whatever you choose to do!!
