They have this thrown at them every time they engage us. If they haven't learned by now, then they aren't going to learn. Frankly, it's a great discredit to their religions.

I am sure they understand the grammatical concepts of these two statements. However, they do realize that these two statements are really close meaning. So, they use this possible misconception to tell people that both of these statements mean the same thing and that doing either of them is wrong.

None of the christians I have talked to differentiate the two groups of people. They simply believe that both will go to hell.

It's not that I don't believe that there's a god (or gods) it's that I know for a fact that there's no such thing as any higher power.

#1 is closer to the predominant view of Agnosticism, though it is NOT the true meaning -- Agnosticism is the belief that one CANNOT know or understand anything about any deity or deities.
