On the weekends, i can go to sleep at 12 and sleep straight through to 1 and then still be tired all day?

if i fall asleep at 12, i can sleep straight to 1 and then like 2 hours later, ill wanna go back to sleep, but during the week i get 7-8.5 hours of sleep and get kinda tired again around 1 or 2. im 14 is it because im young/ stressed/ growing/hormonal? because over winter break, i went to bed at like 1 or 2 every night and then woke up around 12 hours later everyday.

If you have too much sleep, your body spends too long doing nothing and isn't able to absorb the energy it needs from natural light and such.

This is because excess melatonin that has been released by keeping your eyes closed for a long time does not dissipate quickly leaving you feeling drowsy and drained of energy.

The energy from the previous day can be depleted in around 6/7/8 hours (the 'normal' amount for an average person), and the longer you sleep after that, the more tired you'll feel when you wake up. Your body temperature will drop when you're asleep and it takes time to raise to normal again.

I used to sleep this way and then found out that I was depressed when I talked to my doctor. He started me on a schedule going to bed at the same time and using an alarm clock to wake up in the morning at the same time. I did this religiously even on the weekends and I was no longer tired once I was on a schedule.

Another thing to try is a dose of caffeine in the afternoon, like with lunch. It may give you the boost that you need to keep from getting tired later.

All else fails, see your doctor, you may have a problem with your thyroid which can cause sleep disorders.

Too much sleep can actually make you sleepier. I had that problem. I'd sleep for 10 hours a night, and wake up as tired as I went to bed.
Sleep a little less, or just set an alarm clock, and it will help..
