I've always been told that Atheism is the belief in nothing. I believe in a lot of things so I guess I'm not an Atheist.

Nobody believes in atheism. Atheism is simply a lack of belief in gods. Not believing requires no faith what so ever. The fact that there is no evidence for any god, makes atheism perfectly logical and the only reasonable conclusion.

What is nothing? If you think atheists believe in nothing, then your god must be nothing.

Yes, Atheism is a faith and not one that believes in nothing. It's a faith that believes the world is exactly as we see it and does not include some mystical power behind the scenes directing or manipulating us. Many Athiests believe in themselves, their fellow man and science. Many Athiests believe in the Golden Rule, love and hope - not from God, but from humanity. It's as lovely an outlook on life as any other religious belief.

Peace!

It's funny to see your later comment "You are all Very divided." I would say that is like many other religions and faiths including Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Atheism, some Asian faiths, etc. We are all different individuals and we all exist with our different perceptions. Surely you don't need to be outside all of these organizations or faiths (as I am) to realize that.

Atheism is not "believing in nothing".

The fact that so many believers refer to atheism as "belief in nothing" really reveals a lot about those believers, and it's not pretty. It seems they think that the universe is made up of "god" and nothing else, doesn't it? That they're really not interested in or even particularly aware of anything outside of their imaginary gods?

Very sad state of affairs.
======================
Atheism is not "a faith" either. Faith is what causes you to believe in something without evidence. Atheism is not belief in something without evidence. It is not believing in something for which there is no evidence. No faith is required for that, anymore than we could say "It is because of faith that I believe that there are no pink unicorns".

I am an atheist. I do not believe in atheism. There is nothing to believe in no beliefs in god(s).

Atheism is not a faith. It is a position of no beliefs in god(s). Faith requires belief without evidence. There is no faith, or need for evidence involved in a non-belief.

Try this example to make it perfectly clear:

You do not believe in the tooth fairy. You are an "a-toothfairyist." Do you require faith to not have a belief in the tooth fairy? There is no need for any faith to not believe.

Atheism is not a belief nor a faith. Atheism is not believing in nothing. Instead, its not having a belief of some mystical force.

Atheism isn't a religion. Atheism is simply the disbelief in any deities.

Atheism entails the absence of belief in the existence of God or other deities.[1][2] It is contrasted with theism, the belief in one or more gods. Atheism can be accompanied with the express denial of the existence of one or more gods or with the conscious rejection of theism.[3][4] Terms such as weak and strong atheism may be used to denote absence of belief in a deity and positive belief in no deity, respectively.[5]

The term originated as a pejorative applied to anyone thought to be "godless" or believe in false gods; this included those having opinions that stood in conflict with the established religions. Monotheistic views were deemed atheistic by polytheistic believers; early Christians, for example, were persecuted as atheists by authorities of the Roman Empire. Today, the term "atheist" is used less disparagingly and with a more limited scope.

In Western culture, atheists are frequently assumed to be irreligious or non-spiritual.[6] However, religious and spiritual beliefs such as forms of Hinduism and Buddhism that deny a creator God and other gods, have been described by outside observers as conforming to the broader, negative definition of atheism.[7][8] Self-described atheists tend toward secular philosophies such as humanism, rationalism, and naturalism. However, there is no one ideology or set of behaviors that all atheists adhere to.

Wow, such confused and confusing answers!
Actually atheism simply means without God. It is a lack of faith. You place the emphasis in your question wrong.
It is simply a lack of faith, a *show me* attitude. If anybody could drag their God out into the open and have him shake everybodies hands the atheists would buy in. You can't, .so they don't.

I think that everyone is born with the light of Christ in them...meaning they believe but as they go through life, and things happen, and they don't have a strong foundation to fall upon when life dulls out trials, they tend to unknowingly move away from that light and feel that there is no higher power at work here. We shouldn't judge people that feel they are Athiests, we all have free agency to choose, that's one of the greatest gift's God gave us. I personally do believe that there is a God and that his son Jesus Christ atoned for our sins so that we could return to live with them for eternity with our families.
This is just my opinion here and I'm not trying to speak for Atheists, but I think people that don't believe in God or a "higher power" rely on their own strength and courage and that's not a bad thing, but I am grateful for my belief that there is a higher power at work here to help me if I just ask.
